I don't think the song is entirely about losing his virginity, but I do think its a key part of the song. I think its just a little more general. He's an outsider, "always the new kid". He got head-over-heels in love with this girl and it filled that hole in him, he felt for the first time like he belonged. He wants to stay in love, because of how good it makes him feel. At age 16 he's inexperienced and therefor nervous (remember your first couple of dates - firsts are always scary). He doesn't wanna screw this up. The FIRST refrain (but my heart...) is about his nervousness and how things are going too fast and in general losing his love he craves or more specifically losing his virginity. She cheated on him had he known she wouldn't be faithful he could have avoided this pain (if I knew, she wasn't true). The SECOND refrain (but my heart...) is about his overwhelming sadness and quivering in anguish and how she hurt him after the breakup. The long "woooing" is supposed to resemble crying. BAM. |

BlueSkiesAtMidnight = *Swoon*. There are plenty of good people. He just sounds genuinely like he's one of them. |

Hate to burst your bubble, but its about sex. Plain and simple. Mae stands for: Multi-sensory Aesthetic Experience. There songs describe feelings and emotions of basic things. Sex is perfect read on and analyze the song with me. "Lately I'm alright And lately I'm not scared I've figured out That what you did to me feels like Floating on air" -He was afraid of sex but now hes ready. The feeling of sex is unlike any other hes had. "Say anything But say what you mean Cause I'm caught in suspension" -Hes having sex with her and shes loving it. Shes moaning and sighing in pleasure. "caught in suspension" is the rising to climax. "Now I'm wanting this for sure And I'll beg for nothing more I'll plan all day And drive all night You'll love whats in store I can't seem to stop this now Even if it's not clear I'll take what I can get If you want me here" -The first few lines are self explanitory. Then hes thinkning of what whats going to happen when he sleeps with her and how she will love it. Hes determined and if she will let him he will have sex with her. "When you whisper you want this Your eyes tell the same We are gaining speed I can barely breathe Cause I'm caught in suspension" - She telling him to keep going - yes, yes. They are building in sexual energy and passion, rising towards climax. "It's enough for me to get excited, It's enough for me to feel woah-oh Ooooooo, oooooooo" -here it comes - hes very aroused and it feels so good. Hes cut off by his climax and orgasm. Hes out of control. This is such a beautiful song describing such a beautiful thing. Passionate Loving Sex is the deepest form emotional expression, thus worthy of Mae's song about it. Hope I cleared things up for you guys. |
