i do agree, what a ridiculous bassline, what a ridiculous scale! you just don't find immediate inspiration for this from prior precedents, you come up with it on your own. And that's what Elliott did here i think, as far as the piano's concerned.
on a whole, this song is devastating, guised by an almost-happy tune. it's my favorite of his, i think. very beautiful stuff. |

on the contrary, bambi, i'm certain the recurring "evermore" motif was inspired by edgar allan poe.
this is a beautiful snippet of a song, marred, i think, by the throwing up sound effect. i felt it wasn't necessary. this song, like the beatles' "I Will," is one that i wish was much longer. Oh well. It's a good 59-seconds of glory. |
