Tonic – Mr. Golden Deal Lyrics 18 years ago
Right on CHIN, But you missed the W. Whitman quote. He will always go down with her ship. And always try to get her but he'll never win. Why don't more folk write about Tonic? Amazing stuff.

Toad the Wet Sprocket – Whatever I Fear Lyrics 18 years ago
I interpret alcohol or drug abuse is this song. Especially in the second verse and bridge. Someone has become consumed by an addiction and they are now scared of the world. The addiction has left them ashamed and weak. So weak that they have absolutely no self confidence and they know that anyone could, "Eat their kind for breakfast". "...A starting place, and nothing's ever been so hard" - Trying to break an addiction.

Toad the Wet Sprocket – Hold Her Down Lyrics 18 years ago
Definitely not hard to figure this one out. Something that's interesting is that Glen Phillips uses the word f#%k in this song. Perhaps the only song he uses profanity in? Using such out of character language I think reflects his outrage at this profane act.
