Yeah Corpserawr......you're probably right. I'm dangerously close to being retarded because I didn't look at the easiest way to analyze the song. I'll keep handling things like you say from now on and see where it gets me in life. You also have to be right about the mirrors....they turned them sideways because they don't care where they have been and they are just two mother fuckers who disobey traffic laws. Damn rebels. Yes, music and lyrics are forms of art....have you ever heard of abstract art? Artist use analogies to express what they are trying to say - 10 Years being a good example of a band that does exactly that. Different meanings doesn't make it any less beautiful; but sorry, next time I'll try to be a simple minded idiot to meet your qualifications. |

| Also, for those who think this song may be about, "not being in control" it very well could be. The meaning I just explained very much points out a relationship of love - that is out of control. Not being able to stop giving and showing passion to someone. A love that one day I hope I experience, and I think most everyone else does also. | |

Ok, thought I'm not positive of this meaning, I feel confident that I may have some-what come close to reaching what Chino and Maynard were trying to achieve. With Chino, a man who can sing about absolutely nothing and make a song everything, assisted by Maynard, a lyrical genuis; they may have very well made the best song, in my opinion, ever made in the history of music worth listening to. Just thought I would throw that out there before trying to breach into Maynard's and Chino's abstract, genius, abilities of writing a song lol. I think that this song is about two people whop are very much in love, to the point where, while driving, they can not help but express the love they have for each other with closeness of feelings and body and receiving this moment of ecstacy - sex. Here are my points for believing so. Here I lay Still and breathless Just like always Still I want some more They just have finished expressing these feelings and though out of breath, he wants more. Not for the simple "rush" of sex, but for the sharing of love. Mirrors sideways Who cares what’s behind Just like always Still your passenger Though at first I thought this might mean a mirror was bumped, I then later thought past what I would say and tried to reach what they might mean. Better analogies in other words. I think by mirror he means looking into their past, at maybe fights or other things that could have split their passion for each other, but because they love each other so much it doesn't matter what's behind them (The past) and he is always still her companion. This is features of the clothes his love is wearing. They do not care who is watching express themselves. Then to calm down, they drive as fast as possible just to be in each other's presence. He is simply being there for her. Though, "Nice cool seats there to cushion your knees" could be sexual. I see it more as him still being there for her. He says nice cool seats as a metaphor, meaning when she drops to her knees from the burdens in her life, he is there to cushion her fall. Not sure of this, feedback please if there is any agreement. Now to calm me Take me around again Just don’t pull over This time wont you please drive faster This is just a repeat, except for by, "Just don't pull over" I think he means just don't park the car for good, as in going home or something? Then, again, to drive and be in each other's presence. Foggy windows from the heat generated from being in the car, which would also explain the cool night air. Moisture from cool and warm air mixing. Then doing it all over again. Sorry for the length, but a perfect song deserves recognition. If only there were more songs that could bring this much meaning and passion to music. |

This song is about rape. He talks about losing control and waking the animal feelings inside. The part that really gave it away to me was, "Relax while you're closing your eyes to me So warm as I'm setting you free With your arms by your side there's no struggling Pleasure's all mine this time" He is saying she needs to close her eyes while she can't move. The pleasure is obviously all his because he is raping her. "We've all had a time where we've lost control We've all had our time to grow I'm hoping I'm wrong but I know I'm right I'll hunt again one night" This may be the only part where i have confusion. I think that he doesn't want to be a rapist but he loses control and can't help but continue to do it. I get that from, "I'm hoping I'm wrong but I know I'm right, I'll hunt again one night." Over all, best song on the CD to me. Please post if anyone agrees with me. |
