Well to me this song is ...."An end of a movie" song.... everytime i hear it i immeadiatly think its perfect for the end of a movie because well i don't know why but the music just makes it sound like an end of a era, almost like a horizon .... an end of an old painful life but looking out into the hope of a new one.... anyway i just can't shake the feeling that it's a 'end of the movie/era" song that kinda ties in what what everyones been saying about leaving an old life behind :) |

I just love this song ... My FAVOURITE!!! i just love how its mellow but soooo emotive!!! i 2 think the fragmented lines are 'insights' into his mind... i don't think the song actually has anything to do with Japan even though the video is set there (BTW the video is awesome!) it might be the trials and tribulations of love but in the end love prevails (everyone loves a cliche!) i really like the lines : She said I don't mind if you don't mind coz I don't shine if you don't shine put your back on me put your back on me put your back on me It just sounds like mutual love- that to see you partner happy just makes you happy and that you'll do anything to take away their pain (lean on me/ put your back on me) aghhhhh! so emotional ... love it ;) |

i agree with indiegirl516 i think its about fear of sex and that there are 2 characters in the song the guy- and how he's uncomfortable with it all ('but i dont really like you' and 'it's gone to the dogs in my mind" ) and the girl/media/society- and all external pressure (it's only natural) maybe 'the thunder speaks for the sky and an angel whispers my name" are like either moral or religious (hes a mormon right?) conscience. I also love the contrast between the light happy horns and the obvious emotional lyrics. I LOVE how all the killers songs are so emotive!!! and the way brandon sings it !! |
