if a girl was falling for another girl, she would not be dissapointed to find out she was a lesbian. This song is about Rivers himself falling for a lesbian and that Rivers and her "were good as married in [his] mind, but married in [his] mind's no good."
The line "were I the last girl on earth" is an example of Rivers talent for clever phrases. It is a play off of the far more common line "were I the last guy on earth," but he replaces girl with guy as a joke because she is a lesbian. As for 'smoked a few in my time,' I believe that is another double entendre, refering to marijuana and/or penises. Basically, he is looking for a wife with which to settle down, and whether that involves stopping homosexual/stoner acts in debatable. Perhaps both. Anyhow, great song. |
