i can completely relate to this song. its almost like there are two people who were in love once, and it just didnt work out at the time. but now, they are past their troubles and are just promising to be there for each other. "I can't believe it's over I watched the whole thing fall And I never saw the right man was on the wall If I don't land Days were slipping past That the good things never last That you were crying" they broke up, and he didn't do anything. he didnt see how she was hurting, he just let it slip by and didn't step up and become the man he should have been he says "I hardly recognized the girl you are today And god I hope it's not too late" and i think it means that she is different than when they were together, but he still wants to be friends and be there for her, like when he sings "'Cause you are not alone And I am there with you And we'll get lost together" he's offering her that escape again, offering to be there whether its as a friend or something more i absolutely love this song, it completely relates to me and his voice is just amazing. it makes me cry |

ok a few things-first i agree that this song has to be one of the most amazing pieces of music and lyrics i have ever heard. i absolutely LOVE it. i personally think its not about a national tragedy but is more about a personal political identity. nowadays people seem to blindly follow one politician or another and they dont really have a clear stance and a clear belief-which is why chris asks "tell me your politik". he wants us to form our own opinions, our own point of view with all that said-let the 9/11 thing go. i'm a brit who has lived in america for 7 years-for all of you who can't do math that puts me here at the time of the tragedy. while i recognize that parts of America are blindly patriotric, arrogant s.o.b.s, the entire country is not that way. yes, america gets on my nerves, but not because of their parading of 9/11 i wont get into those reasons right now, but the rest of the world-you brits especially!- must see that it was devastating to the country. it was a very sad event, and awful to watch people jump out of the top floors on national tv. but america, you must understand that the rest of the world experiences tragedies on a daily basis, terrorist bombings, vicious attacks, thousands dying of aids. you do not rescue everything on your white horse, sometimes you really f*ck it up. but i will give you the fact that 9/11 was a great tragedy for the nation and the survivors and families of victims are still haunted by it today so can we all just agree to disagree and let this discussion board continue on the path of "chris martin is freakin amazing"? |

only two comments people, come on. this song is so beautiful!! to me, someone has just called it quits with her, or at least tried to. but they just couldnt say it. but you know when just by someones silence you can tell what they mean? thats what this is about. you dont need them to say, if they do it will hurt even worse. hence why the words are 'kindly' unspoken. |
