Streetlight Manifesto – What a Wicked Gang Are We... Lyrics 18 years ago
Haha, yeah I'll agree with that.

When we aren't doing all it wrong, we're doing nothing or putting the act on others to avoid the blame. Even those who think they've got it right can be contradictory. We'll all fully wake up some day, it's a question of when. Or now.

Streetlight Manifesto – Somewhere in the Between Lyrics 18 years ago
Certainly yeah, a celebration of life. Live it while you can. There isn't much more than that in this song to be honest, but this:

'All part of the plan' and the references to the Greek letters. I think it's a reference to that Greek myth (sorry about being unspecific, the name escapes me right now) where the god's are in control of our fate. It's all a game to them, and they cut the strings of our lives as trivially as simple fun.

Don't look back, you can't change the past. We are the present and future.

Ohyea05 - You're right I haven't heard him talk about reincarnation. He does however say this:
'And someday soon my friends, this ride will come to an end
But we can't just get in line again'

Streetlight Manifesto – Would You Be Impressed? Lyrics 18 years ago
It's definitely an interesting possibility.

This is a continuation of the death theme again, thankfully without being morbid. Simply, we're kind of dying as soon as we're born so live it whilst you can. Every cure given and found lengthens life but immortality is a lie: which seems to be what every human aims for.

But here's a thing we can't cure by medicine. The song describes a situation of a judgement day where everyone fails the test with the wrong answer. We live for lust and need (and usually for shit we don't need but just think we do) so what will we do when the time comes when we can't? When a disaster happens, everyone'll blame each other for all the crap humans have created and started and deny all contribution to it as we undoubtedly will. However thats not true, we've all contributed to it some way or another. Either by directly/consciously doing it, turning away, being hypocrites, or simply by doing absolutely nothing.

He dreams the lines of people trying to avoid the call and judgement (the guilty consciences) with those placed in front of the judging awaiting their turn. Waking up, he alone realises the right answer and what he has to do.

Streetlight Manifesto – One Foot on the Gas, One Foot in the Grave Lyrics 18 years ago
I disagree but fair enough, I like your interpretation!
It's about life and death, as with some others on the album too. It seems to be an ongoing theme. Maybe you'll see where I'm coming from if you keep the idea in mind when listening to the song, but here's a few points:

The first few lines make up the definition of death. The second part is being told you're going to die soon.

Warned of 6 or seven days before they go (what WOULD you do?), ending up with a couple extra days, but how long can you really put it off? Seems we're living longer and longer these days, but you know it's the end sooner or later.

The song then goes on to the next part with the decisions you'd make before 'they come for you'. What he 'read' may be referring to the bible/any holy book and he's told he has committed too many sins and can't be saved. (In this case, would you do the right thing or wrong thing before you died?) However 9 times out of 10 they've lied to him and he doesn't believe in their preachings. Similarly it's seen again in the house of stone - if you keep wrapped up and scared, you're only living half a life. We're all going to die in the end, it's unavoidable, so make the most of life whilst you can. Furthermore, the 'one foot on the gas, one foot in the grave' is again another reference to death being inevitable (trying to get away) and laughter at the irony of having it made.

'They claim we'll die without it' - could be religion or a higher power? Within religion or humanity? etc. Nevertheless he thinks they are wrong, ever the optimist.

If you see it this way, it goes on like this in rest of the song in the same vein. Good song, good album.
