| I know it's irrelevant but hotels to Australians are like motels and pubs and bars are... pubs and bars. So her waiting for him in the hotel at night always seemed to me like maybe they had a specific time and room they would head to each day/week etc. I'd never really considered the pub/bar thing. They are having an affair so that could be risky. | |

I have to say that I love the way 'Aint No Mountain' was used. I dont think I'd like it if it wasnt the music. I heard this in a music shop and that's what drew me to buy the album. I think its really cool and it isnt a rip-off at all because the songs are talking about two completely different subjects. I think I'm the only person who thought it was about both people. To me, she's saying that he has the strength to leave because they know they have no future but also that she has the strength to let him I say this because she says 'But to walk away I have no capacity.' For them to break-up, it had to be him leaving. I also get that she loved him but she knows she'll move on and she knows she'll have to move on all by herself. It also seems like she doesnt think she's worthy of a functional relationship 'I'll be some next man's other woman soon,' with an emphasis on the OTHER. I know it's been said a million times already but the best line of this song would have to be: 'I shouldn't play myself again, I should just be my own best friend, Not fuck myself in the head with stupid men.' In fact they are the best lines on the album. Truly brilliant and inspired. |
