It can, and is definitely be a breakup song. Personally, I see Starts with Goodbye as a song about growing up, ultimately choosing your passion, and making sacrifices to get where you want to be. It's not easy, and not everyone agrees with you, but it's what you truly want out of life. "It's sad but sometimes moving on with the rest of your life, Starts with goodbye" "I know there's a blue horizon, Somewhere up ahead, just waiting for me, Getting there means leaving things behind, Sometimes life's so bitter sweet" So very true. Either way, it's my favourite song of Carrie's that she's released. |

The first time I heard this song, it brought tears to my eyes. Lyrically, the best song on the album, and one of Carrie's best songs of all time. This song is about an 18 year old girl who was about to get married. Her fiance was in the military, fighting war, and just before the wedding, he was killed. I think it can be an inspiring song, regarding loosing something/someone. |
