The Who – The Acid Queen Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't think this is a song about sex in any way. Perhaps the woman is a hooker, but this song is obviously about LSD to anyone that has tried a hallucinogen.

If your child ain't all he should be now
This girl will put him right.
I'll show him what he could be now

People on LSD examine themselves. They question their fears, their insecurities, and their goals. Millions of questions race across the mental landscape along with millions of answers. LSD/mushrooms can be an incredibly introspective experience. The band is MORE than hinting as to personal growth through the psychedelic experience.

Just give me one night.
I'm the Gypsy - the acid Queen.
Pay before we start.
I'm the Gypsy - The acid queen.
I'll tear your soul apart.

Once again, it's not about sex. Tommy pays for his tabs and he tears his own soul apart. The acid queen can be thought of as tearing his soul apart, but she just provides the drug.

Give us a room and close the door
Leave us for a while.
Your boy won't be a boy no more
Young, but not a child.

A proper experience with psychedelics can lead to "becoming a man." After an experience as fierce as tripping, the child will have seen much more than before. Animalistic urges, social games, and the motives behind behavior are all unveiled during the psychedelic experience and the drug user has to be in control to recognize them. Regardless, people are forever changed after tripping.

Gather your wits and hold on fast,
Your mind must learn to roam.
Just as the Gypsy Queen must do
You're gonna hit the road.

Your mind must learn to roam is further indication that we are talking about tripping and not sex.

My work is done now look at him
He's never been more alive.
His head it shakes his fingers clutch.
Watch his body writhe

The kid isn't having an orgasm, he's seeing life as it really is for the first time. That feeling of being alive and TRULY LIVING is common among people who had a good trip.

Rather than get caught up in sex, drugs, and rock & roll, you have to see things as they are. This is a beautiful song about someone showing another person themselves for the first time through LSD. Much of The Who's other work has psychedelic ideas in the lyrics and this song is the most obvious of all.

Band of Horses – Monsters Lyrics 18 years ago
DirtyPistol, I hear tree, too. I was thinking maybe he is referring to using marijuana to get away from the world for a bit. Tree being slang for marijuana.
