I heard this today for the first time. It's been on my iPod for ages, and I just went past it, thought I'd give it a listen, and fell in love. It's so gorgeous, so beautiful. The lyrics are sad and a bit haunting, and the music is just so soft and inviting, it's hard to resist. Excellent song. |

I kind of agree with casemore, though I think it also has to do with wanting to be something else, wanting to be somewhere else. Wanting life to be more than it is. Having to pretend to be something you're not just to fit in, but still wanting to be more, and wanting people (or someone specific) to notice and like you for who you really truly are. |

Heard this song on Angel, too. 'Hole in the World', when Fred dies. It's so amazingly perfect for that moment in the episode. I cried. Twas great. And this song is beautiful. Never heard of Kim Richey before, but she's got a nice voice. |

This has a very defeatist feel to it. Doesn't matter what you do, or where you go, it's the same everywhere. Nothing makes a difference, nothing will change. You might as well quit while you're ahead, because it's not going to matter.
Enjoy what you have while it lasts 'cause it sure as hell won't last very long: "Last call, everyone go home/ And take all of the L.A. rain in/ Because it won't fall too much more this year" |
