| A lot of comments focusing pretty much solely on the ketamine aspect. Nobody seems to realize that a lot of CocoRosie's other lyrics have equally abstract and visual images, without being about drugs. Could it be that not every line in this song is about the 'k-hole' experience, event though it's the title of the song? Or that, you know, maybe, it's not *literally* about a ketamine trip (just like it's not literally about abortion or Bambie)? | |

I updated the lyrics, after listening to all the versions I could find. "This is for the woman" was definitely wrong. My best guess is "this is for the one that I love", but I'm not sure about that one. Then instead of "grows down to the ground" it's "goes". "This is for the eyes that, oh my god" is also wrong. "Eyes" is correct though, that's clear. The wrong part is "oh my god". It ends in an "oh" sound. "Hold my ego" could be correct, so I put that. "We'll swim off together one day". First of all she always sings "togethers" instead of "together". The first word is either "we'll" or "will". Both make sense. To me it sounds more like "will" so I changed it. "In an ocean of rum" is actually correct, she sings it very clearly one place! The Sierra part ("Our fathers have spoken / Paper in the wind") I have no idea about. Not sure how anybody got that. I'm assuming it's just wild guesswork. But I left it. I'm pretty sure the rest is correct, it's very clear. |

| Okay, I changed "thought love was at midnight" back to just "lovers at midnight". This is definitely what she sings, and in the 2006 version it sounds very much like that's all she sings. In later version, the one syllable word in front starts with P, that much is clear. It really sounds like it ends with a K sound, not T. It sounds a lot like "puck". But I have no idea what "puck lovers at midnight" means. If it wasn't obvious (from her lips) that it starts with P, I would almost guess that she sings "fuck lovers at midnight". | |

Changed the lyrics according to the new "consensus" and what I hear. The line "thought love was at midnight" is unclear. In the 2006 version it doesn't sound like she sings the first word, so it COULD be "lovers at midnight". But in later versions, there's a word there that sounds like "thought". Also in later versions, she sings "you look" instead of "you looks" but I kept "looks". Lastly, to me the whole line "heaven starts to sparkle light" seems dubious, but I haven't heard any other suggestions. The rest is pretty clear. |

Changed the lyrics based on the suggestion and what I hear. Pretty sure everything is correct except the second verse. It's definitely "ponytails", not "cunning tales", but I have no idea what she sings before that. "Holy ghost and baptized" could conceivably be "holy ghost UN-baptized", but probably not. The next line is more uncertain. I hear "tasty", not "taste your", but I'm not sure. "Lips" is certain, but the rest of the line is just guesswork. |

I wonder if this is connected to several other songs and is about their half-brother Simon. I read that he died before they started their The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn and that the album is partly about that. In the liner notes to that album they've written, "Dedicated in loving memory to: Simon and Simon". (I have no idea why Simon is written twice.) But to me the lyrics in the following album, Grey Oceans, seem to reference their brother more directly. Lemonade is the only song that I'm aware of where his name is mentioned directly (not on the album, but in most other versions Bianca sings "oh Simon" after the line "calling out his name"). So it seems Lemonade's beginning is about Simon's death. (Summer Breeze doesn't mention Simon, that's a common mistake online.) Then there's Gallows, also on Grey Oceans, and its music video. For some reason I have a feeling that the twin sisters are Sierra and Bianca, and the man that dies is Simon. Not literally, because it's a story about sisters committing suicide and dying before the man, but figuratively. Then there's Bloody Twins, from Ghosthorse and Stillborn. Someone wrote there that it seems like a predecessor to Gallows. Then there's The Moon Asked the Crow, from Grey Oceans, which actually has the lyrics "Angel brother, I miss your hair / Careless nature, gentle stare / You fell like rain in the dark abysses / Kissed the lips of bloody twinsis". So it references the song Bloody Twins, and obviously their brother. |

The problem today is that people only download music so they can't check the liner notes on the album. Well, I did. User "museum" had it almost right -- but failed to actually correct the lyrics. The liner notes say "twinsis", not "twins" and "twinsis" is what she sings too. The liner notes say "sung to you a slew of sirens", but she clearly sings "sung to by a slew of sirens". Interestingly the lyrics for the chorus is not given in the liner notes. |

I was also interested in the connection to their half-brother Simon, who died before they started their third album The Adventures of Ghosthorse and Stillborn. That album is supposed to be partly about that. And of course Lemonade starts out being about Simon's death. But Bianca does NOT sing "Simon" in this song (Summer Breeze). In every recording I've been able to find online, she sings "started with my brother". So I don't believe this song is autobiographical at all, which isn't strange considering that Bianca didn't use to be a stripper who was hooked on dope. I changed the lyrics now. But I see that the wrong version is all over the web. |
