| Thrice – The Flame Deluge Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Does anyone else find irony in the closing songs? "The Flame Deluge" deals with fire, the "strong" element. And its lamenting on how it has been controlled and used. How man has "figured it out" and used it to achieve its own ends. "Kings upon the Main" is from the perspective of water, the weak or passive element. And it is boasting how no one can conquer it, and how man struggles and fights to control it. "There'll never be and there has never been A ship or fleet secure against the storms." I found it ironic how the two elements are perceived at first, and then it turns into something else. Fire, controlled, malleable, usable. Water is wild, untame, and dangerous. Totally opposite of what your first impression is. |
