| I think the song may be a little more critical than what sabio said. I think it may be about how religious people, go through the motions, but they don't do it out of love. possibly guilt, fear of god, fear of death, whatever. They're not doing it out of love, but because they feel they have to, and in that sense its not really a choice. | |

I think it has to do with the misinterpretation of religion, or what it is that god wants. "He knelt down before the unholy mob - who cried "War is god!" Gleaming outwardly with great pride - and Prepared to die" The unholy mob, being the people that misinterpret what it is that they're supposed to do in order to worship their god. War is god, he wants us to kill, and they're prepared to die for it. This specifically makes me thing of terrorists, thought that might not be what this is about. "And when it finally came to him You could've mistook it for the meaning of sin" This backs it up, by saying that he found a purpose, and realized what he's supposed to do "kill". but then it mocks him bay saying you could've mistook this for the meaning of sin. Saying that, he probably misinterpreted what it was supposed to be. |
