i think the reference to 'drown' doesn't have any reference to 'the river' because in this context drown means push out of your thoughts or hide feelings. |

I think the song has an uptempo beat because this girl is escaping from an angry, dark place at home, and though she is commiting suicide and it is awful, it is better because she has found a peaceful place in the river and the icy coldness numbs the pain she is feeling and it blocks out the 'smell of angry gin' this song shows that even though something may seem awful or sad, it can have a deeper meaning and good things can come out of it. |
