Neil Young – After the Gold Rush Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is incredibly nostalgic. I used to listen to this song (and album) at least once a day in college (early 1970s). I sometimes cry when I hear this song. It reminds me of my youth, which seems so long ago now.

Anyway, to me, the most poignant verse is "I was thinking about what a friend had said i was hoping it was a lie". I always interpreted it as Young's feelings when he was told that the National Guard shot down the students at Kent State. But, unfortunately, this verse could apply to many things, most recently, hearing about the terror attack on 9/11. Very sad, but genius of a song because it can generate so much emotion. Isn't that the sign of a great song?

Bob Seger – Against the Wind Lyrics 16 years ago
This is one of my favorite songs of all time. It sounds like he's had a tough life -- always trying to catch up, things going against him. I've been fortunate all my life and can't say that I've experienced that. However, I can feel Seger's emotion as he sings the song. You can really empathize. What a great song!!!

Bette Midler – The Rose Lyrics 16 years ago
This is one of the top 5 love songs of all time. If you sit in a dark room with the volume turned up, you will feel the emotion building up and up. It's just a great song!! (Sometimes I don't have a dark room, so I just turn it up in my car.)

Bruce Springsteen – Thunder Road Lyrics 16 years ago
I've never been a Bruce fan, but I heard the concert version of Thunder Road played at a wedding and loved it. (much better than the original) This is one of the best love songs I've ever heard. Two lonely people looking for love. The mystery is that we never know if Mary "climbed in". What a great song. Listen to the live concert version -- what passion!!!
