I don't believe that there are correct lyrics, you just hear what you know. I hear, "Cast your i...deas onto me, and I'll show you what you really need. Give to much...attention and I'll reflect your imperfections. Can't you see it's over?, be..cause your the god... of a shrinking universe." Personally, which should go without saying, I believe this song is about the world being so defined that it confines a person to a reality which has already been set in stone. Like choosing the beaten path instead of paving your own, a person who excepts what someone else believes, or god forbid what the media is selling, gets locked into that mindset, shrinking their universe to what they actually know and see with their own eyes, because what they don't know has been handed to them without question or resistance. But hey, I'm just here to read what other people are hearing. So post what you hear, and don't systematically except what someone else hears. |

I would have to agree most with Ranmacar when it comes to the music video. The idea that a man who's been led like a lamb down a path by those whom he had trusted and looked up to, only to discover that it's not fulfilling and is probably benefiting what he considers to be an evil force, just feels right to me. Also I believe the words before Wayne Coyne sings the please forgive me lines are, "some shining answer from the womb", possibly referring to rebirth after having realized that he can freely choose a new path. Not to mention that most young adults working in that kind of environment probably already feel dead inside. I'm sure the lyrics are meant to be a little ambiguous so that people can hear what they need to here by filling in the blanks. I'm just happy to read what other people are hearing. Amazing song none the less. |
