This song almost flawlessly depicts the underlying messages of the second film. At the start, Peter has become so assimilated by his newfound role as Spiderman and it is putting a strain on his personal life from school, work and relationships. In a bold move, he becomes so unnerved by the treatment he's been receiving on both fronts that he tries to part ways with his role as the city's superhero. It is only from his personal life becoming endangered that he resumes his role as Spiderman that the city is so desparately fervent for, having realized it's where his true calling has been all along. After everything that has occurred in the film, stemming from lack of moderation in his double-life coupled with having to reveal to his best friend and romantic interest about his deep secret, he is finally able to find his balance between being the city's hero and being plain old Peter Parker. Through this series of events, he is able to earn the vindication and redemption he deserved. |

The music video is about a man just released from prison who is trying to turn his life around not just for himself, but his girlfriend and their young child too. Eventually he finds work as a mechanic. One night, he comes home late to his girlfriend who was worried but they quickly embrace after he takes a knee and presents her with a diamond ring he bought from the same store he supposedly stole from. I think the meaning of this song, when you look at it from the video, is that doing the right thing when given a second chance will not only benefit you, but the ones you love and want to start over on good terms with. |

This song is from the movie Harriet the Spy. Harriet goes on her daily spy route after school and observes what she sees and this song is an expression about how she enjoys doing it. The meaning of this song is that she is observant, records what she sees in order to learn about the world around her and enjoys spying and would take no shame in revealing what some people may do such as harm to others. She does her spy hobbies in secret, thus she live in "the secretive life". |
