I guess this song is somewhat nonsensical, but I find myself searching for a meaning anyway. Starting off with the first line..Those who can live with picking scabs and just succumbing to this endless song receive "the glory". They can accept this life without trammel. But then the chorus kicks in. He is unblinded and returned to his original state thanks to whoever he is singing to. This song controlling him is also controlling everyone else, but I just feel like he's set back on track by this special person.. Could he be making a statement about how caught up we are in petty issues? like finding song meanings for instance?! We can't even break out of that shell(like the scab pickers have). his own mother is unknowing of the rut she is in. She refuses to see the benefits of practicing these actions that are not very normal. This song that he misses is still going but very hard to find. He still can grasp it in certain circumstances, but not too frequently. The last part, I think, is signifying the last places this long lasting song can be found. where the night blends into the day and small sparks of excitement on a face... psht, I know as much as the next guy. |

Man, I certainly agree with you guys. I tried deciphering this one on my own, and that quote clears it up totally. I had my suspicions it was along those lines, but I wasn't super sure. The line I belt out the loudest is 'God is a word and the argument ends there'. That is all that needs to be said, the only energy used in a goddish argument. simple but so powerful!! |
