I think this song is about self-hatred. Like "I have no self worth, I am pointless and if you want me, here I am." This is stated quite obviously in "I broke apart my insides/i got no soul to sell/the only thing that works for me, help me get away from myself." Especially in "My whole existance is flawed/you get me closer to god." And perhaps "god" is more of a metaphor than an actual GOD. You know, it could possibly stand for the ultimate role or the very best a person can be. It seems sort of confusing and like WHY the hell would you say that!?!?! but it makes sense, like "You get me closer to having a purpose, to being loved.... you let me know that SOMEONE wants me, and I am closer to having a reason for existing." It's easier to relate to it when it seems like nothing is going right for you than if you listen to it thinking it's a song about lust. Think about it... Trent Reznor is too brilliant to write a song that is purely about sex and so easily interpreted. |

If we all held the same opinions and never questioned, we'd most likely be living in a twisted version of George Orwell's 1984. By the way, THE REV is screaming, not M. Shadows. It's a bit obvious that it isn't M... it sounds nothing like him!!!! |

I do agree with whoever said that A7x supports the troops fully. I support the troops, however, Bush is an asshole. He claims that if he isn't granted another 140 billion dollars (imagine that sum of money) then the troops won't get the necessary protective gear. Perhaps he can visit his friends at Exxon and ask them for a loan. I'm glad that A7x is bitching at the Democrats, because their incessant need to whine and their stagnant effort to change things. I cannot stand politicians. They play their little political games and spend millions on their stupid campaigns, but they don't do their jobs! I love political songs because they spread REAL messages and actually get people to think about the government. By the way... The Rev is AMAZING. |
