I believe it's about them on tour. If you think about it, things can always be worse when you're on tour, but then again, he's "recording...to get the last laugh of this show". This line alone says to me, that it was about being on tour and having a crazy time (probably never done it before). "Well, we scheme, and we scheme, but we always blow it We've yet to crash, but we still might as well enjoy it Standing at a light switch to each east and west horizon Every dawn you're surprising And the evening was consoling Saying, 'See, it wasn't quite as bad as'" |

| Of Monsters And Men – Mountain Sound Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
"Heaven calling in the distance So I packed my things and ran Far away from all the trouble I had caused with my two hands Alone we traveled on with nothing but a shadow We fled, far away" It's about trying to escape from what's going on in the world today. We party, we run and run, but we still have that shadow lurking behind us, looming and pretty soon it will catch up to us. "Hold your horses now (Sleep until the sun goes down) Through the woods we ran (Deep into the mountain sound) Hold your horses now (Sleep until the sun goes down) Through the woods we ran" Watch out, we're going through rocky terrain. We're going to where it's hidden, hold your horses because it's gonna get scary. - talking about the problems that are creeping up on us (environment, take your pick). "Some had scars and some had scratches It made me wonder about their past And as I looked around I began to notice That we were nothing like the rest" Maybe we're better off than everyone else. OR Maybe we're worse off than everyone else. So maybe things are going to be fine (or worse). |

| Kid Cudi – Welcome To The World Lyrics | 15 years ago |

You're missing the first verse. "Welcome to the world, welcome to the world. You got your pop star, I'll be your rock star. When it's a suicide, you call it superstar. Check out the forecast, predictions won't stop. You'll get your 15 and they take the spot. Let's go, let's go, And then you're ready to go. Let's go, let's go, 'Cause it's the end of the show. Let's go, let's go, So just get ready to go. Let's go, let's go. Let's go, let's go." |

| Lupe Fiasco – Daydreamin' Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Edit: "Keep 'em on autopilot cause I can't drive" Also could mean that the artist is making money so he or she doesn't care what they record, as long as the money keeps coming in. |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – Daydreamin' Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Keeper you got it right, imho; but here is mine as well, a little more detailed. Lupe is talking about how the record labels want different people to record different songs as they seem fit. Sara Bareilles wrote "Love Song" because she did not want Epic to shape her like molding clay. "As I spy from behind my giant robot's eyes I keep 'em happy cause I might fall out if he cries" Meaning: Robot being the label, the mundane artist keeps the label "robot" happy because they won't support him anymore if he does not produce what they want. That sometimes gets the artist in trouble because it is not the true artists talent. The rest of this verse talks about corruption in the music industry. "Keep 'em on autopilot cause I can't drive" Means: the artist has become such a product of the label that he can no longer produce any real talent and is now producing solely what the label wants. (Think Ke$ha, she was singing country songs in Tennessee and now is a "slutty" pop singer. You think she wanted that, or to get rich? Also think America's Suitehearts from FOB and the movie The Rocker). The rest of the verse, as I was saying is about how the industry is a circus. The second verse is criticizing rap in general. It is set on a music video set, he criticizes different rappers and genres for making the items mentioned "cool." Lupe goes on saying he is tip-toeing with his robot, meaning the recording industry backs it because it sells and makes money. The baby could be just a human baby, and how the person in the song, "I had to turn my back on what got you paid I couldnt see half the hood on me like Abu Ghraib" get so blinded by the industries push to make him what he is not that he quits. The last line, "But I like to thank the streets that drove me crazy And all the televisions out there that raised me," refers back to the man in the industry because he finally has something real to write about. He can now give his own voice to the world because some of the TV educated him (literally or metaphorically?) This song may be about Lupe himself or it may be about other rappers/hip-hop artists in general that he may or may not know. |

| Lupe Fiasco – I Gotcha Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this is about Lupe saying: I've arrived. "..I know you sick of them players big car and watch ya Either They pimps or they macks or they mobsters..." Meaning you guys tired of these gangster, pimp rappers that all they do is talk the same shit every album; just with different lyrics. This song is metaphorically about Lupe being fresh to the scene. Fresh to people's ears, a breath of fresh air. |

| Ian Van Dahl – Castles In The Sky Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I agree with PaskyTheLad about Gundam, kind of reminds me of that. Also, my thoughts on this song, it could be talking about skyscrapers that are towering closer and closer to the sky. And she's basically saying, we don't need to be up that high and we need to bring it back down to earth because nobody is going to reach the Heavens above; although we'd like to. |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"You thought I was down You thought I was gone Thought I wasn't around I left you alone But look up in the sky Just look up in the sky See that I'm everywhere, everywhere Shining Down on you" I have come to another conclusion. The chorus could mean something like this: "You thought I was down You thought I was gone Thought I wasn't around I left you alone" Could mean that he is referring to a God of some religion and that mother nature is finally kicking us back in the ass. He is saying, "you've forgotten about me, now it's time I shall bring change and let you remember that I'm still here." So, "look up in the sky Just look up in the sky See that I'm everywhere, everywhere Shining Down on you" |

| Death Cab for Cutie – The Ice Is Getting Thinner Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I would have to agree to some part of this song. "We're not the same, dear, as we used to be The seasons have changed and so have we There was little we could say and even less that we could do To stop the ice from getting thinner under me and you" I think that it is talking about global warming and how times have changed. I also think when he talks about "there was little we could say" that we aren't doing enough to stop this from happening and we aren't caring. OR Their love is slipping away and they're losing their love 4 one another. "When the spring arrived, we were taken by surprise When the flows under our feet bled into the sea And nothing was left for you and me" To me, Ben is talking about how the ice caps have melted and therefore aided in flooding the land; "And nothing was left for you and me." |

"Judge, jurry like a loo," also could be Lu? And it's "tellin us not to pursue her, just to shoo her like a blacksmith" |
|
| Lupe Fiasco – Shining Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
The line, "Judge, jurry like a loo; Rap name Lupe but my daddy named me Warrior" maybe says loop instead of loo? Also, this verse, "Well well, Is that our little author? Coming back, humming his hymns a little altered Your attention; put back on the flow like a department of water Take it off the door like little Walter Chess? Yes. Baby, I'm Jerry Lawler Rebel with a cause; outlaw with the laywer Judge, jurry like a loo; Rap name Lupe but my daddy named me Warrior This is his memorial." I believe he is talking about himself here. He is saying people are ready for his comeback and mrawesome, I assume the Jerry Lawler reference is about how he's ready to tackle some things and point out differences. He himself is the rebel, going against the grain of rap, and if people want to sue he's got a lawyer handy (maybe metaphorical.) "This is his memorial" could also be metaphorical, or it could really about making his dad proud. "No, I ain't that nigga trying to get a liquor line When I be scripting lines; want this petition signed. It says I'm sick of dying; sick of this prison time I really love my people; I'm sick of pimpin' mine. Now if we autotune that shit We can hear the songs from that opera groomed fat bitch Telling is not the pursuer just the shoe like a blacksmith We're trapped, and moving round in circles like it's chap stick And that's the same encircled way of thinking that we chat with We'll rap this, around your head like a bandanna's fabulous Used to wrap his hat's with, Rather being F.E.D.S. instead of National Geographics We'll I'm not having it now." I'll try and break this one down line-by-line. "No, I ain't that nigga trying to get a liquor line" -tpain? "When I be scripting lines; want this petition signed." don't know who? "It says I'm sick of dying; sick of this prison time," t.i. or lil' wayne? "I really love my people; I'm sick of pimpin' mine." Kanye or lil' wayne? Sounds like Lupe is hating on the autotune, which does sound gay (in some instances) and people should stop using it because it's overrated. "We're trapped, and moving round in circles like it's chap stick And that's the same encircled way of thinking that we chat with" The same shit is regurgitated and used again, and it's boring so we need to change our ways, because talking about pimpin, sellin smack and hoe's isn't going to last forever. Just my 2 cents |

| Radiohead – Go Slowly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think it is Oh, Maria. Come slowly Come slowly to-me I've been waiting Patient, patient-ly I didn't get it, (maybe it's a really slurred know it?) but now, I can see That there's a way out That there's a way out That there's a way out That there's a way out That there's a way out When I think of the lyrics and this song, I think that the man has gotten the woman pregnant, and he has said previously to give him some space, and now is re-embracing the child that he created, and is saying that there's a way out (being either abortion, or my original thought letting it live) |

| Fall Out Boy – (Coffee's for Closers) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Don't have to be so negative, shit...this is a site for song interpretation, so everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion. Also I know that this guy above me ^ just said what Stump said, but I was thinking about it in the car while listening to it, and here is what I came up with. The title itself is in parenthesis so it could be sarcasm, and some of the lines could be just part of it. "I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Oh change will come Oh change will come" You never know |

| Fall Out Boy – (Coffee's for Closers) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

thank you sir. Another theory could be about pete wentz, or another band member having troubles with their relationship and that band member is trying to prove his lover wrong, "...Oh baby, when they made me, they broke the mold..." |
|
| Fall Out Boy – The (Shipped) Gold Standard Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is having to do with Pete being married to Ashlee and how they were going to have their baby and then they want to get away from this celebrity life they live in. Then they just want to live on a remote island or something with their baby without having him exposed to the stressful life of rock stars. | |
| Fall Out Boy – (Coffee's for Closers) Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Maybe this is talking about the election? "I will never believe in anything again I will never believe in anything again Oh change will come Oh change will come.." Songs about elections and such don't have to be dark, do they? plus if you listen at the end of the song, it sounds like something Beethoven wrote or a famous composer but they put it to electric guitar. "To change and stay the same on top doesn't care about anyone or anything now come together, come apart only get lonely when you read the charts Oh baby, when they made me They broke the mold.." That could be about how he was younger (Obama) and then he changed. I may be wrong, here is another line that might suggest something as well. "preach electric to a microphone stand.." Or it could be about coming to fame, although look out for other songs on this cd to be about politics because that's why the band chose to push the cd back because it has songs on the cd that are very political. There are also some songs on there about relationships, here's the article I got it from: http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1596882/20081013/fall_out_boy.jhtml |

| Rise Against – The Dirt Whispered Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Well I've listened to this whole song over and over, and while agreeing with some people that this album is much different from their other albums, I will not go much into detail, but if you are a true fan of any band you will ride the wave (in my opinion) Anyways on to the song meaning part.... I think this song could be talking about pregnancy, because in these lines. "she got down on hands and knees, one ear against the ground, holding her breath to hear something, but the dirt made not a sound tonight" -She is trying to see if she is pregnant or not "on cold nights in a prayer for dawn but the daylight isn’t what/ she wants" -She doesn't want to wake up because she screwed up her life and doesn't want to go anymore Then at the end "The dirt whispered, 'Child, I'm coming home.'" To me that is saying that she finally found out she was pregnant and she is having her baby because she felt it kick her.... This is just my interpretation and I thought that Tim was saying "a day late, is this what she wants?" and not the real lyrics so that's what helped me come up with this translation. |

| Fall Out Boy – The (After) Life of the Party Lyrics | 17 years ago |

Kelly you're right...this does kind of have a reference to the Great gatsby which was a great book by the way. I think this song have mixed messages. "Blood cells pixelate And the eyes dialate And the full moon pill's got me out on the street at night" and "Oh, put love on hold Young Hollywood is on the other line Her nose runs ruby red Death's in a double bed Singing songs that could only catch the ear of the desperate" The top part is about extascy or something. But the blood cells pixelate and pupils dilate happens when you too much coke. "Young hollywood is on the other line" to me says that there is someone new in hollywood or something that is in the room with him on another line of coke. Ruby red is what happens when you do coke as well. (I know this because of friends) OmgItsAl, the lyrics in the book say "cut it loose, watch you work the room" Although towards the ending when everything is in crescendo it does sound like he says cut it loose, watch you with the moon. |

| Rise Against – Collapse (Post-Amerika) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
first time I heard this song I got shivers...and I had really mixed feelings. I teared up, I got happy, because I knew this song hits on soo many levels. It's about the planet going down the toilet "When the air that we breathe becomes air that we choke When the marsh fever spreads from the swamps to our homes When your home on the range has been torn down and paved and The buffalo roam to a slaughterhouse grave What more will it take" Tim is saying..this shit is real, we need to act or we will be a nation and world falling into the pit of death. He wants us to get active about global warming and different issues in the world that are tearing it apart. "Lights go out as we pass the torch again In hope that is stays lit" -This line means that if we keep doing good and changing the earth for good, then we need to KEEP doing it by setting an example for our young children being born in the future so they can live in a better world too. That's why I love this band so much, they talk about politics and issues that matter. |

| Rise Against – Entertainment Lyrics | 17 years ago |

The second chorus needs to be changed...kinda tired of seeing the same damn copied lyrics on the internet.... Despite these petty fortunes we still can’t afford a life Confined to pull-out quotes and hotel rooms They all scream California and it’s toppling empire But cant you see the end is here! The interlude goes Is this only entertainment, pull the curtains, places please We've learned to sing and dance and cry on cue. But this is more than entertainment in a world so sick with pain, this is the thing that's real or true? Last chorus We've all made petty fortunes. Please fix these. |

| Rise Against – Under The Knife Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I thought it was obvious the first time I read the lyrics that this is a song about going 'under the knife', i.e. having a surgical operation. He is given anesthesia, and is unconscious throughout the whole surgery (wake me when it's through). He feels he'd rather not feel or see anything from the surgery, and chooses to be injected with anesthetics.
(i know it won't really quote him); Go one deeper than that, it maybe about drugs, or rape, or he doesn't want to know what's going on in the world, so he wants to be alone in a dark room or w/e. "Spend my time here alive, but barely there," seems to me that he wants to unaware, his body presence is there, but his brain and mental awareness is gone. |

| Rise Against – Rumors Of My Demise Have Been Greatly Exaggerated Lyrics | 18 years ago |

I think it says, They just took from books we never read. "...Pages torn from books we never read.." Also I think (just my opinion, first time posting), that he says, "Cuz we're blogged into this grid Don't poll this blog right now,..." and not "Cuz we're plugged into this grid. Don't pull this plug right now," But hey, I don't own the cd so I can't look up the lyrics. |
