What I love about this song isn't just the lyrics, but how he sings them. The song builds very quickly, as if you're watching a storm ready to unleash. Then, when it hits, it's as if Trent has to scream just to be heard about the deafening cacaphony, which are all of the troubles weighing his mind down. He's going through hell, and you can barely hear him, screaming at the top of his lungs, over the sheer violence and destructive power that's whirling around him. Then the storm passes, and he's able to reflect. |

I don't think his lyrics are going downhill at all. He's getting more mature, and is just evolving his music. Who Says isn't about 'smoking pot'. It's about living life and doing the things you love without worrying about what other people will think. The song is about him as a person (it directly mentions things he actually did), but it's definitely for anyone to relate to.
Continuum was a brilliant album. So to say he's going downhill would imply his latest works had already started to decline. Disliking 2 songs isn't 'going downhill'. That's ridiculous, and this album does its job well. It's a guide for broken hearts, and its songs are perfect for what it set out to do. |
