Snoop Dogg – Pussy Sells Lyrics 18 years ago
is this song supposed to be ironically funny, cuz they actually love women, or is it just blantantly offensive on purpose?

i don't get it..wtf do most rap artists have against women?

Tool – Prison Sex Lyrics 18 years ago
I thought this song was about religion catching you when you're vulnerable (as a child) and forcing itself on you. Prison sex is merely a funny but relevant metaphor for tricking the public, like Tool likes to do (see Die Eier Von Satan).

I definitely see the child abuse interpretations, but a lot of lines jump out at me that seem pretty religious. The first verse seems to me like baptism. The second verse however, reminds me of trials by drowning. In the middle ages, people, mostly women, accused of being witches (which was a Christian accusation and crime) were thrown into lakes. If they drowned, they were human and innocent (and dead); if they floated, they were guilty of being a witch..so they were taken from the lake and burned at the stake. "I'm treading on water, i need sleep....i can't stand to burn too long" vaguely remind me of this.

But back to my original interpretation of religion raping you..
First verse is baptism. Second verse is some kind of test or trial. Third verse is being indoctrinated or accepting what's being forced on you, in this case, religion.

"For I am your witness that
blood and flesh can be trusted.
And only this one holy medium brings me piece of mind.

Got your hands bound, your head down,
your eyes closed.
You look so precious now."....this latter part really seems to me to be describing someone in the praying position, speaking the former part to their rapist (aka whoever is forcing their views on them).

Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground Lyrics 18 years ago
I'm not sure why, but all these interpretations frustrate me. They seem so off, like you guys are picking certain lines to fit your interpretation of the song but when its looked at as a whole it doesn't fit, no offense. Hooker? Drugs? Really? Ugh. It seems every song on here is sex and drugs. Be more creative people.

This song, as I see it (painfully obviously, btw) is about someone talking her out of killing herself by jumping off something, say a bridge. The relaxation and dreaminess of the song gives a strange sense of lethargic peace to the situation she's in making her suicide seem like a sadly sensible, "might as well, unless you have good reason for me not to" scenario. Not tragic, more like listless.

Forget the depression of the song though. This is such a great song to just chill out to. Really loud, lots of bass. Isn't that..I'm going to say harp(?) line.. just amazingly catchy and beautiful?

Strapping Young Lad – Love? Lyrics 18 years ago
Seems to me this song is about an abusive relationship, be that one of people or a person and their habits. Either way, the person/habit has control over them. There inlies the paradox of needing: one may be needy but the giver is in control so they/it can do anything to you it wants...like destory you and still make you think you love it and need it.

Great song musically, as well as lyrically.

darkwing, i hope you didn't mean that comment literally. You think because someone has different likes and dislikes than you that they deserve to die? You might want to consider professional help.

The first time I heard this track, I couldn't stop laughing. Sounds like something one of my friends would leave on my voicemail as a joke.

Daft Punk – Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is not about sex. If you twist enough, anything can be about sex. Im a gangsta, shouldn't you be coloring or playing with Legos? Mature people don't call others stupid simply for stating opinions, especially when its a good opinion on a site called songMEANINGS.net, where people come together to share interpretations of song meanings. Grow up.

I agree with LeCavelier. The first time I heard this song, I thought it was about making a product and how our society is consumer oriented. We always want everything harder, better, faster, stronger..we always want more.

This song doesn't have the deepest meaning, but it does have a theme. A pretty obvious one at that. No cryptic innuendos here.

Portishead – Only You Lyrics 18 years ago
It seems to me this song is about a society in a country that people are trying to change for the better, but its a difficult struggle. It also seems like she loves her country ("its only you who can tell me apart, its only you who can turn my wooden heart") but things could be better, and its because she loves her country that she, and other people, want to fix problems.

Of course, I haven't seen the video..so I could be off base.
