well this one seems more literal than most of his other songs.....a guy gets drunk and falls asleep at a bar and the bartender wakes him up as he is closing the bar. he is either in a relationship that isnt true, or he is still in love with someone else. amazing song that isnt really sad but is so beautiful that it seems sad. The literal meaning in the words is about gambling , but the gambling also seems to be a metaphor for the record industry (which is definitely big in los angeles). I also think it is a love song that is being sung to the music he creates. |
