Wow, did someone actually ask what the "no's" are? Hotel's usually have neon signs outside that say "VACANCY" when rooms are available. When all their rooms are filled, a small "NO" lights up infront of the "VACANCY", so it's says "NO VACANCY". That's what he's talking about, when he says the "no's on their vacancy signs". Never thought I would have to explain that part. |

| Death Cab for Cutie – Your New Twin Sized Bed Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I just got it. It's a metaphor. The queen size bed represented her big expectations. She was going to find true love and it was going to be amazing, but it didn't happen that way. Now, feeling like all hope is lost, she bought a smaller, twin sized bad, meaning that she's lowered her expectations, realizing that life doesn't go as it seems. The part about self abuse is saying that there is no point in beign desperate. A big bed would give her the opportunity to meet a lot of guys and possibly sleep with them, but if that opportunity, or space, isn't there, then she won't be tempted to settle. The part about her wanting to say goodbye, is that she wants to forget about her original true love fantasy and she wants to say goodbye to a single life. Ben interjects between the first two stanazs to say that he hasn't had much luck and he wishes her luck in her goal to quickly find true love. She's got him terrified because even though he is single, he's in no rush. He's a dreamer and she's a realist. He knows he'll find true love in time, while she knows that it may be too late. |

| She was tired of playing true love's games, so settled for someone that she knew wouldn't disappoint her. She might, however, disappoint him, because she's holding back feelings for another man. | |

A lot of you guys seem to get the meaning behind it, but remember that simplicity is key. Don't over think the song or type a story. We all seem to get the majority of the song about the Big Spur and all that. The section about staying awake and missing a dream seems to confuse the lot of us. It seems to be about people living in bliss. Naive to the beauty of life. They are only dreaming that they are living life to it's fullest; that they are happy and contempt with their exsistence, but it's just a dream. In reality, they are all miserable, but no one sees it. They are told that life is happy and they believe it with out asking questions. Ben is looking to find that beauty, but wondering if it would just be better to live in bliss like everyone else. That's why the song carries a somewhat depressed mood, as he can't find that meaning. The beginning sounds hopeful, but he comes to a sad realization towards the end. There are also a lot of underlying themes and a very deep meaning, but that is free for everyone to interpret themselves. A few of you say this song seems shallow and lack luster, but believe me, it isn't. Like a puddle may look shallow from the surface, but infact be a foot deep with water. |

I don't think this song as anything to do with death, but I can't think if how to describe it's meaning in a non confusing way. If you watch the music video, it's him in a little room with a hole in the floor. each day the hole gets bigger and bigger until he cant avoid it. as afraid as he is of it, he falls in, only to realize its not deep at all. just that the fear of the unknown got the best of him. the song is saying that he will follow this girl into the dark, or the unknown. perhaps shes like a party girl that needs to grow up and face the real world. and if none of her friends feel like maturing with her, then he'll be there to accompany her into the unknown. help her take that plunge. the first verse is talking about how it wont be an easy path, but he'll be there to help her and perhaps she'll fall in love with him. second verse (not chorus) says that fear is the heart of love. the fear of the unknown will spark a romance between them, as they embark on this journey together. the reason he said that he never want back isnt because he disagreed, but because he didnt want to miss his chance. the third verse says that she's been everywhere. shes done everything she wanted to do in life, and now its time to settle down. and thats the unknown. settling down, changing lifestyles. thats the unknown, and he wants to be the one she chooses to accompany her, as in they live happily ever after. |

If you listen closely I guess you can hear the lyrics, but never the less, the guy forgot the begining, where Mr. Crabs is talking to the little kids and he goes: - Are you ready kids? - Aye, aye captain! - I can't hear you! - Aye, aye captain! - Ohh...... (Then TDWP comes in all heavily distorted and all, and it ends with Mr. Crabs laughing.) Fun song. My band might decide to cover this. It's fun. We already do HTML and Dogs Can Grow Beards Either way, Job For A Cowboy use to scream BRE over and over. The vocal lyrics and what not were okay sometimes, but there screams were emotionless and complete crap. There new CD has real screaming with words, which is better cause the BRE over and over was killing me. |

Just to make sure, everyone knows these lyrics aren't correct, right? There pulled right out of the lyric book, but you couldn't follow them and match them up to the song. Theres a lot of repetition and such. And also, if you actually read all the comments above yours b4 posting, put a +1 in your response from now on. |

Guys, consider this before you say it's wrong or move on. I believe this song is two stories, both intertwining in each other, but one is past and one is present. Story one is about a boy obsessed with a girl. "All in your goodbyes" is about the way she rejects him. There is more evidence too, but I got type before I forget all this. Also, his friend tells him that his obsession is stupid. Story two is about the same boy, but slightly later. Eventually, he becomes fed up with her rejecting him and he rapes her. Hence the "Something has gone terribly wrong, we're both scared.... Your lungs have failed." I forget also the line about his heart beating so fast, its like one long beat. afterwards, his friend doesnt know that he has raped and killed her, as i assume she is dead, and he talks more of his unhealthy obsession until he slits his wrists with regret. oh ya, the ignore the truth is because he cant get over the fact that she rejects him. so tie me up and toss the key or watever is because he knows someone needs to control him because his obsession is out of control. where we both go wrong is either he is wrong for raping her and she iswrong for not giving him a chance, or she did give him a chance which was wrong and then he raped her which is wrong. raping her makes him feel alive the sheets tell again of his regret, he might possibly have rapped her body in them tonight is her last chance to run or do whatev cause her life is ending i never thought we'd make it out alive, i think, is actually saying they didnt or one of them didnt, cause she might live past the rape, but he commits suicide, that the whole song i believe. any questions? |

| No matter where you might have found these lyrics or what anyone says, the actual screamer says "This is where we both go wrong",not "Here is where we both go wrong". Or atleast, if anyone, like myself, regularly screams this song, it sounds more like Underoath to scream "This", cause that's what he sounds like he's saying. You can't scream high saying "Here". It's much better screaming "This" | |

THOSE LYRICS ARE WRONG!!! FIND THE SONG AND LISTEN TO IT!!! IT's JUST A BUNCH OF "BRE" OVER AND OVER AND THERE IS THE BEGINING AND END OF THE SPONGEBOB THEME SONG, BUT JUST MUSIC!!! THEY NEVER EVEN SAY SPONGEBOB!!! Anyways, this song is making fun of all the screamers and band that have no meaning in their music, like Job For A Cowboy and all theother crappy bands that scream nonsense. This song is just making fun of them. It's like 60secs long AT MOST! However long the Spongebob theme song is. |

| OMG! It just hit me. This song is about the Holocaust. I'll write more later, but that is seriously the best thing I can think of. I tried to consider every option, the war 9/11, zombies (wtf?), etc, but it fits the holocaust. | |

incase it hasnt been said, keep in mind that they are a very religious band. they all believe christ will come again and be their savior and they are very religious, as they say, in an industry marred with songs of death and darkness. i dont feel like analyzing this song, but every time i cover it w/ ma band, we all have a blast cause its such a great song to play and scream. |
