| Marilyn Manson – Learning To Swim Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's about a person who tries to be someone else and ends up either accidentally killing himself or commiting suicide. I love the metaphors in this song. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Nobodies Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
One word: COLUMBINE. Try watching the original camera recordings while listening to this. It's emotionally uncomfortable. |

| Marilyn Manson – Personal Jesus (Depeche Mode cover) Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
(Quote -->)Thats is unnecessary and extremely disrespectful Well so is calling MM a freak. :P Anyway, this is either about preachers of some sort, or is using religion as a metaphor for something dirty. I vote for the former, although that might just be because I love to bash religion. |

| Marilyn Manson – Disposable Teens Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It seems to me that it's about teens rebelling for no apparent reason, as evidenced by the line: "you say you want a revolution, man and I say that you're full of shit" And the title would probably mean that the stereotypical teenager is so similar to all the others that they're all disposable because there's always another copy waiting to take his/her place. And the whole: "I never really hated a one true god but the god of the people I hated" thing is just him saying that he doesn't hate the idea of a god figure, or a loving man in the sky who's always there for you (to tell you the truth I think he wouldn't mind that at all), but the god he hates is the god of organised religion, who is supposed to be feared and yet worshipped at the same time. |

| Marilyn Manson – Lamb Of God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
It's about the media and the way they treat people alive compared to how they treat people dead. Assasinated people are generally treated like Jesus, or in a "you don't know what you got until you lose it" sort of way. Presidents, no matter how bad they were at their jobs (and I'm not making a statement about any presidents alive or dead), will always be treated like the best president in the history of America as long as they're not alive. It applies to the kids who pulled columbine as well. Nobody acknowledged their existence when they were alive, and as soon as they shoot up their school they're everywhere, on every magazine cover and news channel in America. |

| Marilyn Manson – Mechanical Animals Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Kids don't kill themselves over music, they just listen to music they can relate to, and in the case of a kid who has a bleak (and sadly realistic) outlook on life, they might listen to Marilyn Manson. I still fail to see the connection between a kid listening to MM and the actual suicide. That's because there is no connection, and all the scapegoating in the world isn't going to change that. (that said, yes, it's about him being blamed for a kid's suicide) |

| Marilyn Manson – The Beautiful People Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I get the impression that it's about prejudice against some class, race, or belief system. Some sort of comparison between the beautiful people and the un-beautiful people, who could be athiests, blacks, whites, poor people, christians, metalheads, goths, any sort of group. | |
| Marilyn Manson – The Reflecting God Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Interesting bit I figured out a few months ago, Manson said in an interview (some stupid talk-show, check YouTube) that the whole "you'll understand when I'm dead" thing is supposed to mean that people are recognised and acknowledged when they kill others or themselves, and that they aren't acknowledged until they're dead. He used the two Columbine kids as an example, although I don't know what this would have to do with the rest of the song, which appears to be about the beliefs of Satanism. | |
| Marilyn Manson – Dope Hat Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| I thought it was ironic that most of the samples used in this song are from the short-lived children's TV show called "Lidsville", and that "lid" is slang for an ounce of marijuana. (and therefore is a reference to the drug theme) | |
| System of a Down – War? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's about the crusades, and how Christianity just sort of swept the whole thing under the rug in an attempt to salvage some shard of it's innocence. If you think about the crusades and what Christianity started out as, you notice many similarities to the Nazi regime. The only difference is that the Nazi crimes are still in recent memory. While on a smaller scale, the crusades were essentially the same thing. Mass killings because of race/religion. However, nowadays organised religion just sort of ignores the crusades (along with just about every other dirty thing it's ever done) because if the general public really was aware of these things (or actually cared that the organisation that they belong to is the same one that killed thousands of people because they were non-believers) I'm sure there would be a lot less religious people out there right now. |

| Billy Talent – The Navy Song Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's the story of a man in the navy who misses his lover and knows he'll probably be killed before he can get back home, and he's right, as evidenced by the chorus. | |
| KoЯn – Mr. Rogers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Call me crazy, but I thought his show was ok. Much better than a lot of other stuff on nowadays. This song has a cool creepy vibe, but blaming Fred Rogers for his being picked on is very immature on Jon's part. | |
| Slayer – Piece By Piece Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| It's about a sadistic cannibal who has this feast of human body parts, not too hard to figure out. | |
| Slayer – Cult Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Just for future reference, Slayer is not satanic. As far as I know everyone in the band except Araya are athiest and only really write the "hail satan" stuff because it ticks people off and gets their album more publicity. That's not to say they don't have negative views on the church, however. |
|
| Slayer – Jesus Saves Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Very true and awesome song. Strange that half the Slayer fans posting here are religious, that really bugs me. Organised religion is unnecesary and untruthful, besides, if people want to believe in that sort of thing they can do it at home. God doesn't care if you belong to an organisation or not, as long as you believe in him, so having a church is a waste of time and reasources. | |
| System of a Down – Chic 'n' Stu Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| One word: Consumerism. | |
| Megadeth – Holy Wars... The Punishment Due Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
To prevent any future confusion: Holy wars is about killing for religion. The punishment due is about the Punisher. The beginning of the song is Holy wars, and the slow middle part is this part, The punishment due. Then it gets fast again, but it's still The punishment due. |
|
| Slayer – Cult Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| While a bit primitive sounding (they could have come up with better lyrics, I mean come on), this is a great headbanging song. And while they may be using the whole satanic thing for publicity (and it's worked), most of what they say here is true either way. | |
| Slayer – Angel Of Death Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I think it's almost funny (if it weren't so annoying) that the people who hate Slayer for their musical themes often use this song to tell people that Slayer supports Nazism. If they bothered to actually look at the lyrics they would see, although they see what they want to see so maybe they wouldn't. I think the meaning is obvious enough. |
