I think the Chrysalis breaking and the super-ego waking work beautifully as metaphors for the child coming into the world, breaking through the cocoon of the womb and gaining self-hood, represented by super-ego.... but actually the super-ego, in psychoanalysis, (thanks wikipedia) is the coming of the father-figure into being, ...so maybe the line is not about the child (but rather about the singer) but that's how I took it when I learned it was about a birth. |
