Simple Minds – Waterfront Lyrics 18 years ago
I've always assumed it was something like Paul C says; those heavy crashing beats seem reminiscent of the, now departed, heavy industry that the Clyde was associated with. There was a lot of anger around at the time with the decline of these industries and Jim Kerr was one of the more politically active musicians of the time. Not quite Red Wedge but certainly more active than the likes of Duran Duran! Is there a definitive source to your post Paul C?
