| It's so funny how people will take this song literally, as if it is written from personal experience, when Kyo has this history of writing from such a broad range of views. Um, I think these lyrics are pretty wrong. I just got the Marrow of a Bone CD today and the booklet of translations says something totally different then what you have. : { So maybe you should check your translations because I am pretty sure the booklet that comes with the CD wouldn't be wrong. Unless I have a different version. |

My interpretation is that his viewpoint is from that of a child who is abused by his mother, but kills her (i assume in self-defense) but realizes he gets a thrill out of being abused (called being a masochist) so he finds either a girlfriend who is abusive (or an S&M partner) but realizes the person is no replacement for his mother. (continued)most of the song seems to be grieving the action of killing his mother, like when it says "even though the clock turns backwards, the sin i have commited cannot be undone" and in other places as well. when you really think of it, its a pretty good explaination, and happens often in real life.
