In Case of Fire – This Time WeStand Lyrics 16 years ago
I guess this song sets the theme for the whole album: opening people's eyes to the corruption of the world around them, and calling out for people to make a stand against authority.

Nine Inch Nails – Another Version of the Truth Lyrics 16 years ago
I think, like a lot of songs on Year Zero this song is purely to create an image.

The Great Destroyer ends with chaotic noise, the sound of the world being destroyed by The Presence or whatever... then quiet building piano comes in. When everything goes clear, that's the moment when people see "the world they set on fire" and realise they've been brainwashed by the government's version of the truth.

I love Trent's instrumentals... =]

Nine Inch Nails – Hurt Lyrics 16 years ago
It's weird how most people think that either the character in TDS is talking after death, or that he didn't go through with killing himself.

I always thought he did kill himself in TDS, and Hurt was his last moments of regret and wishing he could have done things differently. The static at the end just cuts out, just like his life.

But yeah, just shows you how people can interpret things so differently, thats what I love about NIN's lyrics.

Biffy Clyro – There's No Such Thing as a Jaggy Snake Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's about him wanting to succeed at something in his life that everybody else (or maybe a voice in his head?) is trying to stop him from doing (You think to much about the wrong things). The "Take on the world" verse seems like him talking to himself, he knows he can do it. He feels constricted (the snake image) as he can't just do what he wants.

Biffy Clyro – The Atrocity Lyrics 17 years ago
I think it's a lot more simple than what you guys are saying. To me it's about the human desires of wanting to find the meaning of life (the answers that will seal our pale faces), and not wanting to die.

I think it's about dying... but I don't really see the religious side of the song. =P
