So I think that the lyric means the opposite of what you said. They don't speak the same language (metaphorically) so he's over acting and expressing himself so that she'll understand where he's coming from." I sort of agree with this, and I sort of disagree. Your example was really nice. About how when you don't speak the same language as someone else, you begin to mime words to help convey what you're trying to say or explain. I feel like he can't express how he feels about her. He loves her.. but he just can't tell her for some reason, so he tries to show her through actions rather than words. The quote "my love's subliminal" also supports this. |

"Just slept way too much, just slept" i usually hear "just laughed way too much" also. but the first one makes more sense. and i adore the part "dirty old shadow, stay away, don't play your games with me" i feel like he's trying to destroy his old self. he's trying to change. but his past (or, his shadow - as portrayed in the song) won't let him be. |
