| Tuomas mentioned on several occassions that this was a song about his life in 2005/06 (I can refer you to an interview if you want). The finer details on the song can be debated upon, but ya, this is a song that is truly Tuomas'. | |

Not all music videos have to do with the song's meaning. What about "Wish I Had An Angel"? Some parts did match (like with the lyrics "dark thoughts" had the camera looking at Tarja's hips) but didn't have any illustration of the song's actual meaning that you can see. Tuomas said that it the video had nothing to do with Tarja, the roles of females in Nightwish, or anything like that. I quite enjoyed that video lol. Marco + "girl shirt" = genius *giggles*. |

*claps at Dark Artist* Great outlook on the song. I see it in a similar way except I don't see it as much with Tarja (though the song was pretty much created from the negative stuff that came after her firing). "Today, in the year of our Lord 2005" means 2005 years after the birth of Christ (or something. I'm not Christian lol). No real meaning beside it as it's just another way of saying "Today, in the year 2005 AD" (AD is a Latin acronym for "anno domini", meaning "in the year of our Lord". BC means "before Christ"), which was the year Nightwish asked Tarja to leave. So...uh...yay for Gr. 6 social studies lol. Oh geeze, this song makes my spine tingle. The chorus is just so powerful I can hear it all day and be happy. |

Blah, all this "Tarja vs Anette" stuff is getting old. Anyways, since this is called SONGMEANINGS.com, it's about time someone actually talked about the SONG'S MEANING. *cough*Anyways, Dark Artist is right. Tuomas said he wrote it about a girl getting mocked at school. The innocent little child that always gets picked on. This song is quite unique as it shows innocence in a negative light (unlike most other Nightwish songs that talk about innocence). To me, innocence is beautiful, but others who are blind to it exploit it as weakness. It's like when you look at a schoolyard, it's usually the gentle, kindhearted child (like Eva) that gets picked on since they might be too kind to resort to fighting (perhaps referred to in "We kill with her own loving heart"?). I would try to interpret the entire song, but it's too early in the morning for me lol. Hmm, these lyrics are also wrong. |
