He grew up in a christian school which probably means he was born into a very christian family which is why he's well versed in those concepts and they play a huge part in his song writing. I agree. Completely Jesus isn't in his little red heart. |

This song is definitely talking about God. Go back to the Song Jesus Christ, where he says Jesus will come in like a theif in the night.. and he calls himself a liar. "I know you're coming in the night like a thief But I've had some time, O Lord, to hone my lying technique I know you think that I'm someone you can trust But I'm scared I'll get scared and I swear I'll try to nail you back up " I think from there it everything clears up, he's really not saying anything new he's just saying God is a thief and has stolen the lives of babies. He is very sarcastic when he says "I wish I could be as good as you" because immediately after he begins to explain his state, uncaring and untrusting but ultimately he feels God made him this way. I'm not sure if the fire is a simile for his current state of apathy or not or if it's to exemplify how uncaring he feels God is by allowing the fires to continue and burn the houses or himself.. or maybe even these feelings inside him. He feels as though he has NOTHING to say to God because God has allowed babies to die before living, He goes on to say the end of the song.. that He feels he knows what type of person God is and God knows what type of person he is so he wants God to end this. In other words, he feels as though his perspective isn't going to change.. he's come to terms with his fate and is ready to go to Hell if that is what awaits him. |

| I'm not exactly sure what "Catch without arms" means, but I do know it says play catch.. so that would imply catch with a baseball or something.. How can you play catch without arms? You can't right? Since he's talking about the music industry and art, it would seem to me he's saying they aren't making music, they aren't producing art, They are giving you what you want to hear, something that is catchy something that will sell, but not an expression of themselves, an expression of what they think you will relate to. | |

I love concept songs, and concept things like this. If you hadn't noticed they each took on a different persona and point of view, they each were unhappy. I dont' think Pharrell stuck to the concept as much as the others did, it seemed like he abandoned it towards the end but it's a possibility I'm not looking deep enough. Lupe Fiasco = Rich, Unhappy, Famous person who's money doesn't stop the pains of the ups and down.. Upperclass. Kanye West = Not rich, Reality TV show star who has all the troubles of a famous person but not nearly enough money. The whole thing hanging over their heads all their life, or even the person that got famous through Myspace.. all the fame none of the money. Pharrel = Low class, Uneducated, "street pharmicist" cooking coke, ironically a chemist.. in that he is making drugs... It doesn't seem he gets deep as the others did he simply set up the picture in your mind on what was going on, letting you come to your own conclusions.. what throws me off is the last part where he's rapping about the Virginia Tech shooter, I don't quite understand it.. sounds like he's saying he wishes he was standing in line to get shot, like the rest of them I dunno.. Excellent song though I hope this project doesn't get shelved and gets released soon, they each have alot on their plates.. Kanye West just released Graduation and is producing for others still, aswell as touring. Lupe Fiasco is finishing up an album, and I think Pharrel is doing somethings aswell with N.E.R.D. |
