this sort of band is the kind that writes songs that have little involement with actually what's in there heart, and more of what is better to hear for mainstream, not saying that there not a amazing band though =) this song is written about, and i say 'written' because the lyrics don't come from the heart. but that someone there into is hurting and they want to give them strength because there share a commenality over losing something that meant something to them. they feel they don't mean enough to the person there so desperately wanting to give themselves to but they stay persistent, 'you don't know what you do to me' how much they care about them, but how much it goes un-noticed and how when there hurting and they say unkind words it really bothers them. "lets talk trust" just wanting to be close. |

my interpetation is that, he has to 'block out thought's' of his mother because hes so unable to even think about it with falling to pieces, and he doesn't want to come apart, but the thoughts keep erupting into him like bugs hatching. the reels of tape are his mothers answering machine calls, that comfort him but also leave him feeling aware of how alone he is, and re-enforcing shes gone playing movies in his head where the only way he can take his mind off any of it is to think the next area of love which is romantic, "playing movies in my head that make a porno feel like home", hes desperate to give himself some ease so he distracts himself. he's sad that shes gone, and knows shes better off without him, but he never got closure & throught the song you seen underlying anger that he doesn't want to have for her cause he knows how much she meant. "sober now for 3 whole months" she helped him with his sobriety and it was something that they also used to fight with each other on, but he wouldn't ever do it again no matter what because of those effects. hes grateful for how good he was to her, when he was at his worst, and 'waging wars' on himself. he feels guilty for parts of his relationship with his mother so he says 'hate me' because he wants to be punished for his regrets with his mother. this song is about how he was hurting and reflecting. |
