Quite honestly, I agree with the reincarnation idea concerning this song. However, I also like to look at the different objects has having some sort of symbolism, such as (an obvious one) the pillar showing him as a support for his lover. It makes for a very interesting interpretation of the song. |

| George Michael – I Want Your Sex Lyrics
| 17 years ago

I've actually heard that this song is not about him really wanting to have sex with someone. It's about something deeper, something he's endorsing or a statement he's trying to make. However, the person who told me this much forget exactly what it was, so if anyone knows anything about this, that would be much appreciated.
As for the person he's singing it to, I think it could be either a guy or a girl. Even if he wasn't "experimenting with homosexuality" at this time, that does not mean that he wasn't a homosexual and did not write songs hinting at his sexuality or addressing members of his gender that he was attracted to. |

I know a lot of people are saying that this song couldn't have been written about a man because George Michael hadn't begun exploring homosexuality yet, but just because he hadn't explored it doesn't mean he wasn't at that time and doesn't mean that he couldn't have written a song about it that perhaps hinted at it even a bit. With that in mind, I would also like to say that I don't think this song is directly to a specific gender. It's one of those wonderfully ambiguous songs that can address both genders and both hetero- and homosexual couples. Also, I love the Egyptian sounding melodic line he uses. It really adds something to the song, which went very interestingly with my previous opinion that this had something to do with forbidden relationships, such as in a church or school. |

I've read through all the comments and I have to say that while it's officially about drugs, I will never really see it that way because I don't do drugs. Also, I tend to not like songs against drugs because they all seem cliche to me- not that this song is, but in general, the songs all say the same thing that parents and teachers and inspirational speakers have already said. I prefer to think that this song is about independence from whatever is plaguing a person. I don't see this as a religious song, I just see it as a song about someone breaking out. |

For all the people going off to college...this is relevant. I'm going off to college soon and a very good friend of mine is going to a different country to go to college (Oxford). I'm going to miss him...I listen to this song though, and it makes me remember all of the six years we've had together. It makes it hurt less. |

| Blood, Sweat & Tears – Spinning Wheel Lyrics

I'd have to say that it's about just enjoying life, but not strictly on a pony...through drugs. I agree that the spinning wheel represents a clock, though. The second to last stanza, I think, really emphasizes the drugs part. I've never taken drugs, but I've heard that you have some pretty crazy experiences and you see your life in a different way- hence the reflecting sign. |

Thank you for posting the correct lyrics, magus. I was reading them and wondering about that. I really do love this song. I listen to it a lot at night and it gives me a bit more energy. Some days, I remember a good friend of mine and how we're going to be separated by life and college and the changes that will happen. Other times, I compare it to the Buddhist concept of change and attempting to live in the present moment.
I also tried to look for what the band officially said about the song and couldn't find anything...does anyone know anything about that? |

I've read all of the comments so far and while I agree with that the meanings presented have merit, I think of this song differently. For me, it's having someone lord over you and tell you what to do (even though they're struggling themselves) and you can't help but yell at them and tell them to just go away and stop telling you what to do. It's your life and you have the freedom to mess it up if you want to. |

Yeah, I agree with vael. Especially if you look at the video...she keeps hurting him again and again and she's the one who leads herself to do it. (when she goes out in the cemetery away from her kids b/c she sees the guy with the mask and the person with the mask ends up being her)
It's an amazing video and it's still taking me forever to really understand it. |

I really love this song. When I listen to it, I'm reminded of a relationship I have with a guy friend. In some spots, I take the song kind of literally (b/c he literally analyzes me) but it works so incredibly well. |

I'm so glad this is finally solved. Btw, if you happen to like 'Sarah', you might want to check out Middlesex. It's a really deep novel (incredibly deep and completely fantastic!) and the main character is a hermaphrodite. |

I love this song. It kicks so much ass. I'd have to agree with the whole abusive boyfriend thing. If you check out the music video (which I also love), you can see him ignoring her and not really doing all that much for her. But you also see her paranoia and self-loathing. So, I guess it's really both. |

I just watched the music video again and I think it's pretty awesome. As for what the song actually means, I'd really have to go with DeBurgo on this one. If you watch the music video, there's this one scene where she's wearing a red dress and dancing in front of a car, kind of indicating that she's better than the guy (considering that he's called a loser) and she's "above him". Not to mention she's wearing a fur coat. |

| Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five – White Lines (Don't Do It) Lyrics

This song is so incredibly repetitive; it's ridiculous. After the first two stanzas (or the phrase 'white lines' if you're sharp), it's blatantly obvious what the song's about. It has a great beat and the horn line at the 'freeze rock' part is amazing. The lyrics turn me off after awhile, though, because there's nothing new in them. |

Wow...I thought the line was "This does not mean I don't love you, I do, that's forever, is it for always?" That line was my favorite because of that...it inspired thought. I still love this song so much. I have an ex-boyfriend which I apply it to and it brings so much meaning to our relationship (as friends). This song always seems to make everything seem better. |
