Soundgarden – Gun Lyrics 18 years ago
This is from Wiki

"The song's lyrics appear to relate to the views of some Constitutionalists and Libertarians on the right to bear arms as a protective measure against tyrannical government. It has an overall theme of violent revolution. The line, "shoot shoot shoot 'til their minds are open" becomes a double entendre in this context."

interesting stance the band takes here. Keep in mind this was written in the Reagan/Bush years "the right to bear arms as a protective measure against tyrannical government" so I imagine that was a jab at the party in power during that day. Much of the meaning is probably symbolic here.

Soundgarden – Searching with My Good Eye Closed Lyrics 18 years ago
I was born the same year as Chris. I was living in Seattle 90 to 2002. I remember the incredible feeling of that period in time when this song came out. Things seemed interesting again. From my perspective it was about negotiating the rules of the world while refusing to compromise that which is sacred.

Is it to the sky
Looking to the sky and down
Searching for a ground
With my good eye closed

"My good eye closed" in other words my "good eye" is not for sale. It incapsulated the feeling of disgust with the prevailing warped culture we were being asked to embrace.
