This is probably the best song from the album. The title track is good too, but no one's commented. The regrets are "on their way but ain't here yet." |

I am travelling aimlessly fixed in my old boots loose link to my head if you thought go to the place where the pagans will place it alongside strange invitation.
It's "Jack-Ass", and it conveys a good message in Spanish also. |

| Warren Zevon – Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner Lyrics

"That son-of-a-bitch Van Owen blew off Roland's head."
For some reason that is one of the funniest verses I have ever heard and seems like a good example of Zevon's macabre wit. The conclusion of the song, about violence as a way to achieve their goals. |

I think we've covered most of the meanings and double standards addressed in the song. The demon and muscle parts are probably phallic, a la Young Goodman Brown. In addition, men tend to have difficulty confronting and overcoming their troubles, so that is probably the other reference. While people may get away with flaws thanks to superficial beauty, it seems that this is only a temporary fix.
On the other topic, breast cancer is as bad as any other. Still, prostate cancer is almost as common and deadly, (testicular cancer rates are increasing too). But "men's cancers" receive a fraction as much research and funding. As far as cancer research goes, we should do the gretest good for the greatest number but no one should be s.o.l. either. |

He wants to be the center of the girl's attention, but she is basically too conceited. The monthly blood part suggests he wants to see that she is as human as anyone else. |

| Alanis Morissette – A Man Lyrics

I think this song is about how feminism has made men feel like they are losing ground but at the same time afraid to criticize it, because they'll be reminded of "fools they're among." When I was on a trip with the YMCA, we went to the Juarez region to study the "femicide" (murders of female factory workers) in the area. While the city is quite violent, men are in fact killed in far greater numbers. When we talked to someone about this, she had the attitude that men were brutes who deserved it. I should probably mention that I was the only man out of a group of six. At least those traveling with me understood how it felt to experience this. We listened to this song when we were returning home. |

This is about deja vu to me, which seems to happen at the most unlikely times. The stanza "takes me home" at the end seems to be about bringing closure to the experience, whether it's sex, drugs, or just an episode of depression. |

I like it. The box is a metaphor not only for TV but for the increasingly limiting aspects of modern life as a whole. One of their earliest and best songs. |

It turns out the rumors about Maharishi were false. It seems like George was able to follow his advice and give up drugs, even if the cigarettes eventually killed him.
I was listening to this song a lot this summer, and it reminded me of a young lady who lived in my dorm about two years ago. She was a vegetarian, and she acted like everyone's friend; she also claimed to be a "hippie" and to love everything. I made the mistake of asking her out, and she started saying bad things to other people behind my back. When I heard one of her friends getting drunk and badmouthing me to our RA, that was when I lost my patience. I had an epiphany, and I realized that she was a total fraud. |
