To me this song is just talking about how unbelievable it is that so many violent tragedies occur all over the world, but especially in the united states. They are given all the headlines and in a way this is glorifying their horrible crimes. (Although this probably isn't the intended in the song,) I take from the song that when terrible crimes and killings are going on in the world and I'm complaining or worrying about something stupid like girls or school, my troubles are far less important, and sometimes we have to step back and realize things could be much worse. So our prayers compared to the prayers of these victims are only whispers to the clouds, in comparison. Idk, thats just my own personal meaning. Tell me what you think about that.... |

I love ETF I think this is an amazing song, probably the most visually interesting they've ever written along with the guillotine, it kicks ass I have a different take on this song, I do believe the idea of the dream is present, but I think the imagery is symbolic, kind of using the images of dreams and shadows to represent different ideas I know this may be contreversial but it's just my take on the song I think that "hiding from the gallows" is Ronnie talking about hiding from a problem that could kill him Another part that makes me think this is "Never fall asleep, you won't wake up" to me this could mean, don't give up, you might die if you do I think the man with the axe represents death, the lyrics say the man tells him to "Destroy the guillotine, before he does" but i think thats because it is in the form of a story, I think what is meant is death told him -destroy the guillotine, before "I" do- I think this means hurry and beat your problem or you will die and will have no choice but to take your life and take you away I think maybe he felt betrayed by his friends or a friend when they treated him with pity, because sometimes people don't want to be pitied, it can make you feel like your less than human, in my opinion...especially if your going through something that they wouldn't understand well thats about all I can think of for now, tell me what you think about those ideas i get that idea from "I need an earthquake to shake this pity off the ground" "I walk in shadows" could mean I hide away from my friends and everyone or maybe... I'm in a state where the fight seems hopeless oh and the pain, could be the pain of trying to change his ways and fix the problem, or possibly the pain of betrayal, or maybe both Another possibility is that maybe his friends weren't there when he was dealing with this troubling problem, but I'm not sure, because none of the lines seem to talk about that I'm also really puzzled by the line, "the questions I will never say" One more idea I had is that if this truly is a continuation or related somehow to "The Guillotine" maybe the person Ronnie made promise never to leave his side as he battled this problem left him, and on the battlefield he was forced to hide out in the shadows, so he wouldn't be taken by the enemy and killed then again most people, including Escape The Fate say that song is about Halo, but maybe it has more than one meaning... who knows? |
