nessacorrinep, I have no idea how anyone could think you're perverted from that analysis, but I get what you're saying. Anyways, I thought of fly in a slightly more literal sense, and when he says "I watched you change, into a fly" I figured he was talking about the larva stage. So all in all, this song could be viewed as a parents perception of their child. "I watched you change, it was like you never had wings" could be the parent always thinking of their child as, well, a child. "I took you home, Set you on the glass, I pulled off your wings, Then I laughed" describes how without the "freedom" from the "wings" of adolescense, these teenagers are still just kids. The only thing grown up about them is their bodies. I know this theory doesn't explain the whole song in the least, but I thought it was an interesting viewpoint. |

| Man, when I saw these guys at VirginFest, and they played this song last, and eeeeeeeeveryone around me started screaming along, I thought to myself "DAMN. These guys have some serious motivational power over rebellious teens!" | |

| Descartes also believed that free will was equal to gods will; whenever I heard the line "And the ghost of Descartes screams again in the dark 'Oh, how could I have been so wrong?'" I always pictured his beliefs in that idea shattering. | |

I adore this song. I think the best part of this song is he takes his actual [I assume,] recordings of the progress of each day. It's so cool how that if you didn't know this song was about heroin use you'd think it was just another sappy love song about some chick. Especially the line 'Take me in your arms, The way you did last night.' It's freakin' amazing. |
