| Black Kids – I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How to Dance with You Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I'm probably one of the few that actually thought it the narrator in this song is actually a girl. i.e. when you're young and in love with your best friend who just so happens to have a boyfriend? She's going to spite him, because she's in love her, but it's wrong so she's going to "bite her tongue", even though she was certain she was clearly obvious to HIM about her feelings for her friend 'He don't suspect a thing, I wish he'd get a clue' by the way she acts out towards him. "The second I do, I know we're gonna be through", the moment she caved she knew she'd have to leave because she's so horribly in love with her friend and it's painful to see them together. "I'm kissing on you/Is he better than me?" <--- this one's a bit shaky, but I feel like this is probably her finally coming clean/taking things in her own hands and THIS is when the chorus "Word's on the streets and it's on the news:" makes sense, maybe she came clean to her friend/confessed or in a flight of her friend doing some experimentation finally came out of the closet, thus the word's on the street about her now. Or maybe other people know about her feelings, except for the friend and boyfriend. That's just my interpretation though. |

| Tegan and Sara – Are You Ten Years Ago Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
What I love about Tegan and Sara is that they have the kind of lyrics that anyone can relate to, and the message is always different to different people. This song kind of feels like it belongs on some sort of indie movie hahah |
|
| Sleater-Kinney – The Size Of Our Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This song always makes me think of Dana and Alice fro the L Word for some reason. | |
| David Usher – Hey Kids Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| isn't that Tegan Quin singing in the background? Sounds so much like here...but yeah I agree that I feel this is a mock-kiddie song. I think its also poking fun at blind optimism. | |
| Tegan and Sara – Like O, Like H Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Definitely about the acid also, it could connect with parents not knowing what they're kids do behind closed doors. |
|
| Giant Drag – Smashing Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| "Wait til he comes down" could refer to the hangover, I never really thought of that | |
| Hunter Valentine – Staten Island Dream Tour Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| She was a tough girl that no one could ever have, but she falls in love and realizes that this person is changing her drastically, and she doesn't know what to do; she feels vulnerable, because this person is trying to change her, she wants to be who she used to be. In a way its kind of a dark joke, very ironic that she was a "bad-ass" girl yet this one boy has the power to control her, to change her into something she doesn't want to be. | |
| Hunter Valentine – Break This Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| its a relationship in which the girl being spoken of can't decide who she wants to be with, she knows she loves the other person however she's too deep into a relationship with the other person to let them know, this double relationship is tearing her apart, causing her to break her healthier habits like eating.. and apparently the narrator finds out about her affair thus the girl is breaking his/her heart now. | |
| Hunter Valentine – Wait And See Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| sorry, I wanted to add that they are also in denial over whether or not they need someone to help them. | |
| Hunter Valentine – Wait And See Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Its probably about a drug addict or an alcoholic, someone whose made a few bad choices in their past, they reflect on the good and bad things that they have done and they're waiting to see if anyone will help them. they're waiting to see what they will become if they stay alive through all of their choices. | |
| Hunter Valentine – Jimmy Dean Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I thought it was "she told me she was forty" sometimes its really hard to hear the lyrics D:...anyways I definitely think this is a song about someone we've all met before (either in an actual relationship or friendship). Its obviously about someone whose just there for the thrill, for the sex rather than the love. A total user who doesn't care for the other persons feelings. | |
| Fefe Dobson – Miss Vicious Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
My friends have so many different thoughts on this song;but heres my veiw: "Leave Me Alone/I dont Like You/Go Home " The "narrator" has a very clingy stalker type person with them.. "Where've you been?/I'm calling you/are you home miss vicious?" the clingy person can't get enough of the narrator, even though they are constantly pushed away they want to be with this person, but the narrator is ignoring/not answering their phone or door. "Can't live/without your kiss" The clingy one is either really obsessive or lives and breaths this person. "Get away from me/And leave me alone/You're driving me crazy/And I want you to know/You better leave me alone " The narrator does not love this stalker-ish obsession the other person has on him/her, obviously they are starting to get more paranoid, they want the person to leave them alone and to go away. "We're the same/Two in one/Gonna get you/Gonna make you run" The stalker obviously believes that they have so many things in common, that they're the same person..They're gonna make him/her run (which seriously is something natural that comes from being stalked, you try to run away from anything that would allow the stalker to have contact with you..) "Don't dare scream/You're all I am/I was born to be your only friend" It starts to get to a very obsessive point, the person knows that they cant have the one they want so they try to take the person, they love this person to a point where they think they know enough about this person to practically be in the position of a very very good friend. "Stop don't want it/Stop can't have it" The narrator doesn't want this, they want it to end. "Here I am/I feel you/You will love me when I'm through" Rape? |

| Mother Mother – Oh Ana Lyrics | 18 years ago |

|
| Superbus – Lola Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Its about a girl loving another girl (Lola) for the first time, hence "It is the first time for me." I love how she looks in the video :) |
|
| Sleater-Kinney – Leave You Behind Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'd like to think that it could be taken as a break up, or a death of someone that they loved greatly... I don't know, this song confuses me slightly. |
|
| Sleater-Kinney – Jumpers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Total reference of the suicides of SF, especially the part where they say "I will not go to school again". "Be still this old heart; Be still this old Skin". Basically the aftermath of jumping, you'll be dead, your heart will stop beating. "there is a bridge adored and famed the Golden spine of engineering whose back is heavy with my weight" Standing on the golden gate bridge, "whose back is heavy with my weight" could either refer to them actually standing on the bridge, or it could refer to the weight of their feelings. "the only substance is the fog and it hides all that has gone wrong can’t see a thing inside the maze" Self explanatory :P sometimes the fog in SF can be so thick that you can't see anything, "it hides all that has gone wrong", nobody actually knows of the terrible things that other people have done. Fog could also be a reference to someones mask, if you keep your guard up, if you keep your mask on no one will know your darkest secrets. "the sky is blue most every day the lemons grow like tumors they are tiny suns infused with sour" My favorite part of the song, every day will seem like a happy day to most people. The lemons probably refer to the ones whose days start out great but end up terrible. I'm probably wrong, mainly because I'm half asleep but thats not really a good defense :P |

| Sleater-Kinney – Jenny Lyrics | 18 years ago |

| Sleater-Kinney – Heart Factory Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I agree with Dejavula, its about breaking hearts. I especially love the line: "It's not like an organ more like a valentine " |
|
| Sleater-Kinney – Get Up Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| Yup, I think its referring to sex as well. | |
| Sleater-Kinney – Everything Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The song seems self explanatory to me | |
| Sleater-Kinney – Don't Think You Wanna Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
"Everything I say; Comes back to me one day; Everything you do; Comes back to stare at you." Something you did in the past, that haunts (or affects) your future. |
|
| Sleater-Kinney – Don't Talk Like Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I love this song, and whenever I hear "Don't talk like Like you're nineteen You're thirty-five" I cant help but think of my aunt, she's 50 and is still trying to be that popular girl that everyone knows. But my friend interprets that line as "Grow up already" |

| Tattle Tale – Lingerie Lament Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A lot of Tattle Tale's songs just seem to explain themselves in my whole opinion.. "Stay out of my underwear" | |

| The Wizard Of Oz – Somewhere Over The Rainbow Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I loved this song as a little kid because it always reminded me of how some people want to escape their troubles and go to a magical land of happiness like Oz. Minus the Wicked Witch. :P But I love this song still, I listen to it when I'm having a bad day...it kinda makes me feel better for some strange reason.. |
|
| Otep – Ghostflowers Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I kinda felt the same about the song as Emby... Other than that, this has got to be one of my favorite songs by Otep. Not a "Song Meaning" comment but eh, sue me. |
