Flobots – Stand Up Lyrics 16 years ago
I recently came across these guys on pandora, and I'm starting to like them.. I enjoy a good amount of the ideas.. active thinking and being active in whats going on is really important... but..

"We the people did not want war"

past tense, and it's wrong. Sure, we may not have wanted what we got exactly, but after 911 there is not a single true American who could say they did not want the blood of those responsible. No one old enough (I cannot even believe I'm saying old enough, but it's been that long already) to remember clearly the events of that day vividly at that moment (and truly grasp their meaning) would have said otherwise at that time.

Oddly enough, it's not the main goals of the war that have drug everything out and generated so much irritation/anxiety.. it's the humanitarian aspects.. the rebuilding of countries and attempting to nose-in and form a solid infrastructure where none was before. To let the people of their nations elect their own leaders, to build for them schools uncontrolled by extremists, controlled instead by their free-thinking citizens...

Sun Tsu spoke wisely against siege warfare.. and that's what this has become in a sense. We do a lot of good, but at great expense. The efforts are sometimes unaccepted, and in some cases unwanted by an understandably paranoid populace.

but to say we didn't want war, is largely BS

Lucky Boys Confusion – City Lights Lyrics 16 years ago
I grew up on the west coast.. and I love it, some day I'll move back; stuck in the midwest for now at least until I complete my degree.

Even still; LA is probably the worst city on the entire west coast.

I cannot speak for everyone prostye.. but it's not the change to the sound that irritates me so much as it is the loss of the strong depth behind the writing.. the power just isn't there anymore.

Sevendust – Wired Lyrics 17 years ago
chorus seems to be wired instead of wire.. even tho it doesn't sound like it.. it's probably hourglass is drainin then... and I think it's "you live your life too wild".

but I could be wrong.

good song.. seemingly well written. seemingly about drug abuse

A Wilhelm Scream – The Soft Sell Lyrics 17 years ago
to me this song doesn't sum up several things, but rather expresses a tumoltous series of feelings and events.

it seems that no matter what they do, everythings the same ("it's only a car length away")

the song crys out for change, to not give up. But in the end it's all the same, the moments drag by but the days are used up like matches; gone before you know.

the writer continues to ask for his desires, to be or feel something diffrent. To be needed. Expressing again his boredom for the world.

In This Moment – Forever Lyrics 17 years ago
I saw these guys with bury your dead and five finger death punch last week (and some local band, think it was named soul crisis or something like that).

anyway I thought about the parallel or rather the contrast.. between what the guys from bury your dead grew up with.. what their music is mostly about.. and what her songs.

Those guys are probably real proud of her

I don't know, I just thought it was pretty neat

Bury Your Dead – The Poison Apple Lyrics 17 years ago
I picture this as someone coming to the singer asking for help about something in his life.. perhaps he screwed over his wife/gf/partner.. perhaps cheated, distant zip code.. perhaps the partner killed herself over it..your edge.. distant zip code.. perhaps gone during the event.. her love spilled out for you...

anyway they made a mess out of his situation somehow.. and is now coming to his old friend(s)..

the only thing is, when he met this girl he completely abandoned and betrayed his friend(s), and now his old friend(s) don't want to have anything to do with him. Or at least he/they'd rather see him deal with the consequences of his actions

the reason I say friend(s) or they.. is due to the line about the singer "not running this place"; it could be in reference to their old social circle.

Rise Against – Audience Of One Lyrics 17 years ago
well, at least this song has something clear and meaningful behind it.

too many songs on this album seem very generic; a desire to make change with out a cause too name..

so far i've yet to be too impressed with this album..

very dissapointing

Rise Against – From Heads Unworthy Lyrics 17 years ago
This song could be just about anything; there are a lot of generalizations that could be applied to the way a lot of people feel about a lot of different situations.

The initial part of the song seems to setup a situation involving a younger generation disgusted with the older generations control of things coming into power. “It’s the song I sung from the bottom of heart”, is pure determination.

I don’t feel that this is directed towards any particular group, but rather a whole previous generation.

Then towards the end, it comes out that he is possibly speaking to his loved one.. and that once his goals are done he will be back for this person to live their life together.

As for the person that pointed “Not One single bone in your back” towards Bush… Of all things that can rightfully be said about this man, being spineless is not one of them.

The Rifles – Local Boy Lyrics 17 years ago
this all seems pretty clear.. pretty literal

"Jimmy" grew up in this town. At some point he joined the service; left everything behind for war (uniform, ribbons, seen so much, got home from the war...).. to see "much more than a change in the weather". Now he's much older ("when he could break your heart.. many references to the past..), reminiscing.. drinking, and watching for the young men that remind him of himself. Dreaming of the day that he shipped back home from the war to the girl he left behind.

Since that day he has some how lost her, and he sits in this moment.. he misses her dearly, but with his thick skin most around him will never know the depths of his loss.

too proud to admit it, and perhaps understanding that it will do no good.. he tries to drink it away.

Sevendust – Enemy Lyrics 18 years ago
""Enemy" was originally called "Pez", a derogatory nickname Rose had for Fafara. "We called him that because I used to say, 'I want to take this dude's head and pull it back and rip his tongue out of his neck,' " Rose grumbled."

This is why the went with pez

I would like to know why this animosity (see what I did there?) exists. I've heard from her that "Dez" was an ass.. but how? Why? I mean he was misserable after a while in coal chamber.. maybe because they were greedy and stifiling his joy for the music? It's hard to say.

I used to rock out to tyler's song all the time.. I really enjoy coal chamber/devildriver.. and yes.. sevendust. I have listend to sevendust since waffle.

Dez seems like a great person now that he's in a good enviroment. He openly cares for his fans and band mates. Devildriver was probably one of the best concerts I have ever been too.
