Tori Amos – Bachelorette Lyrics 16 years ago
I disagree with the 'independent woman who rocks' interpretation. This song is kind of sad to me. Sad in a cool, romantic, european sort of way. It's like, this bachelorette is a little past her prime, and starting to see that her life is a little empty. So she's filling the whole with trips to paris and sleeping with men whose names she can't even remember. Yes, she's independent, but for this woman, independence comes with loneliness.

Tori Amos – Raspberry Swirl Lyrics 16 years ago
This song is pretty visceral for me - it just gives me a sense of feminism, sexual power, maybe a little aggression. It's like saying to some asshole guy 'You idiot! I know more more about pleasing 'your senorita' than you do!"

Jason Mraz – Sleep All Day Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about taking a rest. I think the narrator is a typical young adult that's busy, over-worked, and reminiscent of times when there were fewer responsibilities. He's maybe finally gotten a chance to rest - and now he's thinking that maybe this is really what life is about - sleeping all day, chilling, enjoying life. But he also knows that there is more to life - he has things he wants to accomplish. He knows that it will take hard work compromise to acheive what he wants to do.
I think he brings up his mother and father because he's drawing inspiration from them. They have sacrificed throughout life, but thier sacrifices have brought them satisfaction and fulfillment "would they take it all back what they've done? no way"
I don't know - that's just my interpretation - maybe a bit skewed....this is basically a description of myself - maybe that's why I love this song so much. God I wish I could just sleep all day.
