Woody Guthrie – Gypsy Davy Lyrics 17 years ago
Yep. This song has been around for a looooong time. In his book, Country: the Twisted Roots of Rock and Roll, Nick Tosches traces it all the way back to the Greek myth of Orpheus. It's a terribly interesting read.

Ryan Adams – Hard Way to Fall Lyrics 18 years ago
I get the impression that the narrator in this song has fallen victim to some sort of substance abuse problem. The lines that lead me to this are: "we used to be something, but something happened to me, Oh my God when I was free". The "Hard Way to Fall" would be the spiraling down through the various stages of addiction. Thinking of it in this light sort of gives you a different perspective on the song.

Ryan Adams – Goodnight Rose Lyrics 18 years ago
I think that the lyrics might be incorrect. I think that the seventh line down should be "...and who knows, maybe we'll win, the whole sha-bang."
Anyway, I wonder what the significance "Rose" has in Ryan's life. The name pops up in several songs and a rose in unofficially Ryan Adams and the Cardinals' symbol. Thoughts?
