| The Faceless – Xeno Christ Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Xenochrist is Jesus. Jesus in the first place IS the shepherd of deception, the prophet of contamination. The whole idea deceives you in the first place....god, heaven for the good, hell for the bad. His followers and believers....fools. The whore of god....mary, the virgin womb. The savior of the fearful and desperate himself, Christ. I'm pretty sure the song is a reference to Christ as the alien parasite in the first place, created to destroy mankind....which religion seems to be doing quite successfully. | |
| Pink Floyd – The Gnome Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
If any of you know anything about Terence McKenna and DMT, he said something about this song being about the DMT experience. "The Gnome" is simply a term for the beings that exist in the DMT world. Terence called them "Self-transforming Machine Elves" they weren't elves necessarily, but that's what the word to describe them is. They're beings of light that some have encountered in DMT trips. "And then one day hurray another way for the gnomes to say hurray" is them greeting you as you enter their world through DMT. They know of you and want to contact you through that world. |

| Horse the Band – Hyperborea Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
"Hyperborea is a fleeting golden moment suspended between History and the unspeakable revelation of the Eschaton Hyperborea is a nexus of feelings, evolving ideas and shifting appearances. It is both an objective world and a dream within a hallucination. Hyperborea is Novelty itself." - Terence McKenna |

| At The Throne Of Judgment – Discarnate by Design Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
A connection of some sorts between two individuals who bury bodies is altered when one wonders how the process of live burial will work. One individual claims that deep beneath their feet, this mysterious woman in particular and her her unnatural ways will eventually end....thus ending her life altogether. This mysterious "twisted" woman who was beyond human was buried alive and through that process, which had become a sick pleasure to the others, became a bodiless (discarnate) figure....a ghost. She's brought to a realization that she was a pawn in a twisted game involving her eventual ending. Being made sure she had passed, she had been exhumed by one of the gravediggers, who now is now hammering the nails back onto the coffin, aware that their plan had worked (or so they thought) tells her that any lies or dishonesties should be regretted and that her lack of interest / concern is the motive to all this suffering. He bids her a last foul good riddance and buries her once again. The dawn of a new day and time for one to expect the unexpected brings a whispered tone into the wind, a voice of a vengeful ghost....a replicated form of what once was living, with no physical form. She exclaims, "Oh, how the night reminds me of my shadowed thought" meaning the night brings her memory back....it blooms....revenge is revealed to her and through that, she is reminded of what payback she needs to pay to those deserving it....thus the name "Discarnate by Design" another form of life through the process of dying and decomposing. |
|
| Pixies – Brick Is Red Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| There's got to be some sort of connection with this song and "All Over the World"....from what's already been said. And don't forget the line from All Over the World, "You can't even speak, fish, all of them speak." | |
| The Faceless – Horizons of Chaos 1: Oracle of the Onslaught Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yeah. War and a powerful female entity watching on and creating an atmosphere for it all. | |
| The Faceless – Akeldama Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I talked to Michael Sherer and he told me that the synth solo in this song was actually done by Michael Keene on a guitar synth. Interesting. If I'm not mistaken, the first set of vocals goes, "Children ensure freedom exterminates all inhibitions. The fears of mortality must be forgotten....no longer living for death, no longer dying to live. Existance and non-existance coagulating. Safety found your ignorance....shackling human indivduality." As for those higher pitched and faster lyrics later on, like I said before, I have no idea. |

| Born Of Osiris – Rosecrance Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
'Rosecrance' was the band's previous name and, before that, they were named 'Your Heart Engraved'. Yeah, I'm a nerdy music local....anyways this song is obviously about being there for your friends when they've cahsed the bowl / bong and need a reloading. :) Actually, I'm not quite sure what it's about. I know there's a rehab center here in Illinois named 'Roescrance", but I doubt that's got anything to do with the actual song. The meaning is open for you to figure it all out, though. |
|
| Blink-182 – Freak Scene (Dinosaur Jr. cover) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yeah, this song has nothing to do with any SoCal punk scene. It's about the scene Dinosaur Jr. was a a part of back in the late 80's when this song was written....which was an indie / post-punk scene. | |
| Animosity – Evangelicult Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| A four second song with plenty of well said explanation to it's title. | |
| The Faceless – Akeldama Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I, to this day, do not know what is being said from 2:12 - 2:23, and I really want to know. haha | |
| Horse the Band – Purple Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Mulholland Dr. | |
| Horse the Band – His Purple Majesty Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| That actually makes a good amount of sense....the skin feeling like "uncooked chicken" kind of helps the alien idea now that I think of it. | |
| Horse the Band – Sex Raptor Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's a double-meaning. It's not only about some guy who goes to clubs and stalks his "prey", but also about a Raptor roaming the jungle doing the same thing but for an entirely different reason, which in turn is the same thing. Two different mindsets, but mutual in terms of the lyrics. | |
| Horse the Band – Cutsman Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This song's about a personal experience that Nathan had with someone when he was younger. It is not about the character. | |
| Horse the Band – Crickets Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| There's nothing simple about te meaning of this song. | |
| Horse the Band – The Startling Secret of Super Sapphire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| A.K.A. R. Borlax....yes. | |
| Horse the Band – New York City Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| The music video was amazing....especially in the end when they guy's cord pops out of the wall after all of the build up. It's so....dramatic. | |
| Horse the Band – The Red Tornado Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Same formula as A Million Exploding Suns....not about the character himself, but used as a metaphorical reference. I love the lyric, "By saving the world, he's saving himself. A machine that is selfish....just like everyone else!" Brilliant. |
|
| Horse the Band – Pol's Voice Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| dean-ial is absolutely right. No song that references Nintendo characters are actually about them. If you know anything about HORSE, or Nathan's style of writing, you know it's literally all metaphoric. Nathan said himself that Cutsman was written due to a personal experience he had along with Pol's Voice, Birdo, and The House of Boo....and that none of those songs are actually about those characters. Why everyone is so stern on that fact? I do not know, but dean-ial knows what he's talking about and the people that didn't hear that "Nintenocore" was a complete joke by the band however long ago, just need to understand that none of the songs are about the characters....they're simply creative metaphors. I'll leave it at....please just deal with it and enjoy HORSE in the fact that they're the greatest and they're much more serious than most people will ever concieve them. | |
| Dinosaur Jr. – Tarpit Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
As gigantic of a Dinosaur fan I am....and the fact that I understand completely how hard it is to understand this song....I can tell you that these lyrics are almost 100% wrong. 1. "For getting hard" > "Forget and hide" 2. "But how should I know" > "Hatch it out now" 3. "It's time to burn, I hope I score" > "It's time to burn the hope I store" The gas part, I'm not too sure about.... 4. "Strike this little, be outdone" > "Still, your righteousness won't be outdone" Confusing song, I know, but the lyrics for it on here have been butchered. |
|
| Horse the Band – T.M.N.T. Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I don't know....I'm pretty diehard HORSE and I think this fits perfectly in with the EP itself. They were simple about it being about pizza and the whole T.M.N.T. thing gos almost hand-in-hand with the idea. Come on, that show was too badass and original and so was the first movie. It's a complete and total HORSE move, when you really think about it and it's awesome. They said they were just happy to of got it out of the way before Evergreen Terrace went along and ruined it. |

| Horse the Band – Kangarooster Meadows Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Until you see this one performed live, and you see each member singing along on stage....you haven't lived. I got the chance to experience such an....experience. |

| Horse the Band – Crow Town Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
A town of crows, rather than people. I can imagine some ridiculous metaphor, but nothing's coming to me at the moment. |
|
| Horse the Band – I Think We Are Both Suffering from the Same Crushing Metaphysical Crisis Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
TIME. The climactic build up of this song is the best. |
|
| Horse the Band – His Purple Majesty Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
David "His Purple Majesty" Isen? This song is so sexual and graphic. I can't figure out the true meaning behind it, though. |
|
| Horse the Band – Face Of Bear Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This has to be about how powerful other beings are on this planet rather than humans. They took a simple animal, a bear, and turned it into a song about how intense a bear's lif is. Nathan's descriptions are top-notch in this song. It's so visual. | |
| Horse the Band – The Startling Secret of Super Sapphire Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
What is the Startling Secret of Super Sapphire? ...............R. Borlax. Funny thing is, that is the actual answer. |
|
| Horse the Band – Broken Trail Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
I'll eventually figure out, or try to figure out a meaning to this song....if there is one. It's like the middle of 'Werepizza' meets 'Rotting Horse'. The atmosphere this song creates is fucking amazing. |
|
| Horse the Band – Lif Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This song is about LIF! Nothing matters....nothing....ever. I look at this song the way Erik described the album in general...."A Natural Death is about the futility and arrogance of creation and destruction, the overwhelming scale of space and time, and the brutal majesty of nature, the horror of birth and the beauty of death. Everyone who will ever live will die a natural death, and will soon after be forgotten for eternity. Hopefully this album will serve as a warning to the human race to stop taking itself so seriously, as we have seen the dire consequences of its actions in the future....you are nothing." I also really like how the man's voice in the song is explaining how he got a "funny feeling" and realized what he had been worrying about was really no big deal at all. I take it he realized what Eric was talking about. |
|
| Horse the Band – Rotting Horse Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| This one's really hard to figure out, given that it is an instrumental (constructed almost solely by Dash, so I hear). I think, by the way it sounds, it has to do with the sudden realization of an end to things....things can end in very horrible ways, or at least there's always that possibility. I don't know. The only thing I think of when I hear this song is a gigantic, dramatic, slow-motion, multiple-car accident on the freeway or something. | |
| The Faceless – Leica Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
This one's kind of hard to figure out....I think it's simply about someone who has decided to become a follower of some sort of entity or cult. They've become a slave to some being through "hearing their call" and they begin a quest of some sort to be one with that being. They throw out all that they once believed and sacrifice everything for this one individual who has a lot of power. They consider themselves below this being and their "final test lies just ahead". They are chosen to die. They are guided to this being through this being and are fully aware of what they are doing and why. It's all simply about dying for something. |

| The Faceless – All Dark Graves Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
A place such as a graveyard (all of them, to be exact) can seem very gloomy and lifeless to the untrained eye, but there's more to it. What you see when you look into a graveyard is the surface and that's all it is. It's not what's above, it's what's below. The surface is simply a disguise and all sorts of unknown things happen below. Life, on the other hand, goes by the way it has been for all of eternity. The dead seem to be forgotten and by nightfall, the grave comes alive. No dead rising or anything, it's all earthly internal. Ghosts (shapeless beings) "call forth to be one with them"....they rot and become eternal through that process. All of this is at the "selfish request of a treacherous host". Some individual being of some sort is demanding all of this and witnessing it firsthand. "Everything does take life, even the earth must feed." I believe that that statement means that even though death is seen as the end-all to everything, it's actually a creator of something new afterwards. The ending of ones life somehow feeds something else needing death. Somehow, the eating of corpses is involved and "there is no turning back". It all comes to an end (possibly by sunrise or some other sort of timeshift) and the same thing'll happen by the next night....all while being unknown by what goes on above ground. Amazing song, along with all of the others, but this one truly sticks out well. |

| The Faceless – Pestilence Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
Some world of people is suddenly hit with a disasterous disease. It's effects are devastating as well as intensely violent and graphic....it's completely unexpected. Life, whatever it was beforehand, has completely shifted into this horrifying terror and it nothing can really stop it. Everything that once was, is now diminishing into chaos before the blink of an eye. I think the chorus...."A bastardized version of man which cannot be reversed...." simply means that man is now hopeless to this plague and there is nothing that can be done. Everything that slowly dies awaits death and once dead, a sickness is spread to everything of the opposite. I think the meaning of this song briefly touches on the fact that everything we have can go bad within a second and, in some cases, it can be intense and violent....not quick and easy. |

| The Faceless – An Autopsy Lyrics | 18 years ago |
|
The easy explanation...."An Autopsy" is about a body of some sort that has been removed from it's grave and is being examined. The more complex explanation....it's not exactly an exhumed being that has been taken by graverobbers or anything, but a body that was dug up for an honest reason. They weren't examining someone who died naturally. This being had something else going on at the time of it's passing and they (the ones conducting the autopsy) are unraveling a story as they make each incision. As they examine him, they seem to become one with him in some eerie way. It's a very disturbing and graphic moment. I think that the being, when it was alive, became sudddenly taken over by something else....possibly a ghost or some source of evil and even after it had passed, the torment within itself had remained and the body's mind was trapped. After they "sever the skull", they free the being from the torment that was life and is death. I believe the mind of the being had been dormant and is now in discarnate form....where it goes is beyond me. This is a lot of explanation for one song, but I'm majorly into these guys and (side note) when you smoke bud, they take you on a trip you'd never imagine....hence the long explanation. :] |
