| Coldplay – Death and All His Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I think it has a double meaning: not just about love/a relationship getting carried away, but also wars and how we still haven't learned from our mistakes (i.e. in Iraq). Coldplay is saying, get out of Iraq, you rushed into it too quickly & this is just the same injustice that's been going on for hundred's of years and we don't want to be part of this "recycled revenge" mess, part of "death and all of his friends"! & now, we dream of how to "escape" from Iraq. No one knows how to get out of this mess we've gotten into. I think the whole album is on this theme: the tragedy of war and the relationship to it and love. |

So I think this song has 2 meanings (like much of Coldplay's music): about infidelity in a relationship AND the americanization of Britain (as someone has already well explained above) As far as infidelity goes, he's sayin that they started off well in their relationship, but now things are goin rough, and he's tempted into cheating (at night), but knows (during the day) he's doin wrong. Thus "night makes a fool of us in daylight." Night and day are used both figuratively & literally: the night is the time of evil, the day is the clearness & right-path (this metaphor is also used in "Cemetaries of London"). The fact that the song says "since they've gone" implies that he's not just talking about his relationshsip, but he's also refering to the U.S. influencing Britain in an immoral way. "I'm just so tired of this loneliness," implies that he's cheating bc of a relationship going bad and he needs some love in his life. From the political point of view, it implies that Britain doesn't want to be left alone; they want the U.S. as a close ally. |

i totally feel this song. the couple's in a long-distance relationship & the girl's saying, yo i know it's hard physically to not be near each other, sleeping by each other, but please don't go searching for someone to temporarily ease the pain while i'm gone - just wait for me: "Kiss the rain And wait for the dawn Keep in mind We're under the same sky And the night's As empty for me as for you If you feel You can't wait till morning" she's saying it's hard for her to be alone at night too, but she knows that their physical closeness isn't as important as the emotional. Thus she says "Do you miss me? I hear you say you do but not the way I'm missing you" |

Oh and btw - the last part should be: 'Ain't no problem you can go' not, 'oh no problem' I'm from the south like Beyonce & that's how we talk. Listen again to the lyrics and you'll hear it. |

she says: "Some sillies say I should be trophied Cause it gets no stronger" i think she's saying this dude is getting intimidated by her strongness, like he wants her in her place, so to speak, as a trophy wife "Ladies ya'll know (yea girl ya'll know) This pimp ish gets no older Is that a threat (what's another threat) Yep! (that's another threat) From you, you can get no colder You got the green light you the king right?" She's sayin "o you think i can be pimped? you think you're the king? you can go find someone else then, b/c i'm not the one" it's a feminist song basically. she's demanding that no man put her down, and if wants to do so, he's got the green light to go. make sense? |

| Keane – Is It Any Wonder? Lyrics | 18 years ago |
| p.s. miichellemabelle, i totally feel what you're saying - this song wasn't really depressing at all; whenever i hear it it's like my feelings are expressed about my purpose and confusion, but like everything's still going to be ok | |

this song seems really spiritual to me. like he's questioning the purpose of life and whether everything he's believed for so long is right. i'm not sure what he was brought up as, but from my point of view, being brought up in the church, all the questions he's asking is what i ask God and myself everyday. like how can God and religious people say God expects us to do such as such... maybe that doesn't make sense, but there are are so many sources that tell us to believe this and that, and no way for us to really know. and "I look a fool for thinking you were on my side." and "love is just a lyric in a children's rhyme" Is everything we have believed just blind children's faith? Do y'all feel me? Not to say the author or I are anti-reliegious, but "Is it any wonder that I'm tired? Is it any wonder that I feel uptight? Is it any wonder I don't know what's right?" and why not address to God a song with such strong comparisions to a romantic relationship? esp. after you've felt like you known him for so long, "Is it any wonder that I feel afraid? Is it any wonder that I feel betrayed?" |
