Alter Bridge – Blackbird Lyrics 18 years ago
This song is great. I listen to it all the time and it never seems to get old. Very emotional. I just have a correction with the lyrics. It's supposed to be "Ascend may you find no resistance" instead of "They're sending you from your resistance."

Matchbox Twenty – How Far We've Come Lyrics 18 years ago
I don't know if I'm the only one, but sometimes it sounds like he's saying "Let's see how far we go" which would actually work, too. Think about it. The song is about how far we've/they've come, and he wants to see how far we/they go.

Another thought is that maybe this is, as much as I hate to say it, the last Matchbox Twenty album, and the song is about it all coming to an end. I mean, the new CD has 2 discs, but one of them contains only six new songs, while the other is a greatest hits CD. To me, that raised some questions. The only other thing I can think of is that they decided to do an epic song or two like Green Day or Dream Theater. We'll find out when the CD comes out.

My last interpretation of the song is that, basically, he realizes that everything is going to end, and he's imagining what would happen if the world ended right now. Is he satisfied with what he's done with his life? At the beginning of the song, he seems to be stuck in a routine everyday and not going anywhere with his life. Then, when he crys, he realizes he hasn't done what he's wanted to, and he's going to make the best of what's left. He wants his life to have some meaning to it.

The more I listen to the song, it actually does sound more Apocolyptic, but not in a religious sense. Actually, how the world is ending is not the point, whether it's figuratively or literally. It's more like, the world is ending, and you don't know why. It just is. Has your life been what you've wanted it to be?
