"dutch courage" referrs to how alcohol makes you braver than you would normally be sober. soldiers used to do this before battle to make it easier for them to charge towards their possible death. it kind of ties into the song if you think about it cause this person has low selfesteem and does all the wrong things but when he/she is drunk he/she has the courage to stand up for himself/herself to defend their bad life-style? ish. |

| I can see how this can be about hope through music but I also feel like parts of the song are about not belonging in the social world. Like your friends in quotes stopped calling you, making you feel like shit. so the singer is writing this song for someone to combat their feelings of not belonging as if this song about someone makes not belonging a nonissue. the song about them makes them belong. idk that's how i feel. | |
