| i'd definitely have to agree with stargazer on this one, i don't think he's in a relationship with a girl, to me, she's leading him on. "your breathing filling up my lungs, i can almost believe that i'm almost enough" i pictured that meaning that they're sleeping next to eachother or something and he thinks that he won, that he's finally made her happy enough to be part of her life, but she still doesn't want him. at the same time though "cause all i want to be is the minute that you hold me in" he just wants to spend time with her, even though he knows this is the situation that he's in. | |

I'm definitely going to have to agree with midsummerdiva on the suicidal undertones of this song, I never took it as a literal meaning...that he had already hung himself, but I think that's a decent thought. If anyone knows about the physics of commiting suicide by hanging, a drop from more than 10 feet will usually break your neck, so I took the lyrics "I'm holding on a rope, got me 10 feet off the ground" to mean that these people are still in this relationship but the girl is totally just dicking around with the guy["You tell me that you need me then you go and cut me down"], and he's looking for a quick end to it. He doesn't want to suffocate (which, if your neck doesn't break, is how you die from hanging) but the fact that he's holding onto this rope shows that he can't stay in the relationship anymore. "I'm hearin' what you say but I just can't make a sound" he's confused, doesn't know what he wants cause he's not sure what SHE wants "I'd take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you" He doesn't want it to end like this, he wants to go back and change things almost. "I need you like a heart needs a beat, it's nothing new" i love this line and agree with laurrahlime when she says that it's her favorite line in the song, cause it's mine too. Pretty self explanitory to me...he literally can't live without this girl, and she knows that and is almost using it against him "I loved you with a fire red now it's turning blue" as a fire's dying, it goes from those huge red flames to the small blue flames before it ultimately goes out. Maybe this means that the relationship is purely sexual now too? Since the blue part of a flame is the hottest part...could be reading into that a little too much though Throughout all of the drama going on in this relationship, she keeps claiming to be so sorry, but he's not going to stand for it anymore..."it's too late to apologize" afterall. |
