ignoring the joplin-cohen allegation brings out a far different interpretation, for me anyways. it sounds like he's talking about a prostitute, a high-paid call girl. "And that was called love for the workers in song probably still is for those of them left" seems to suggest the bond cohen and the prostitute had was deeper than just a client-customer relationship. in the end their bond deteriorates, but he never took it too seriously taking into account they had started off as fucking for pay. she saw him as just another client, although she did favour him over the others. |

| Lionel Richie – Easy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I see it as being about tied down to somebody, anybody, anything and just wanting to live your life the way you want. you're just fucking everybody else and being yourself no matter what the cost. Just living without planning out what to say or do is easy, and you're easy like fucking sunday morning. | |
| Bright Eyes – True Blue Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I disagree on the blueness around him symbolizing depression, I honestly believe there is no depth to the repeating pattern of the colour blue. When he describes this person he likes as true blue I think it more so means they are real, blue as in the old blues music sort of way. That type of sad, raw, true feeling, more honest and blunt than depressing. He admires this person for being true blue yet he himself doesn't want to be like that. his blue is a calmer, more subtle sadness. To be true blue is to be aware of just how brutal life really is which is too deep for his ideal blue. | |
| Why? – Rubber Traits Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is just about trying to get it right, to be who you like to think you are yet struggle to actually pull off. He wants to pull apart his double helix (DNA), he wants to spend all his time writing, he just wants to not change but become more like himself but better. | |

Honesty, truth and beauty. Being true, no matter what the cost. The lyrics seem to be almost advice to somebody who has forgotten who they are, or more so chosen to ignore it. "When no-one is around, love will always love you." Losing the ones around you and not giving a damn because you know you were being true to yourself. "never give up, no never give up if you're looking for something easy you might as well give it up" Again, truth is not always convenient, but if you always take what is most easy to obtain then you might as well just take the even easier route of giving up. |
